Here's a thread for your poems, new and existing, and others you have read and would like to share!
If posting a poem written by anyone other than yourself, you must follow it with the writer's name.


NOTES:
Obviously, use no language that would cause discipline here were the same words composed as prose. Further, if the subject matter of the poem can be considered "hot button" in any way, please use sufficient additional metaphors until as the intended meaning is rendered so oblique it cannot violate forum rules against discussing such matters.

AND:
Poems need not rhyme, but probably should.
No disparaging what's posted. They won't all be good.

A personal favorite....

England is a cup of tea.
France, a wheel of ripened brie.
Greece, a short, squat olive tree.
America is a gun.

Brazil is football on the sand.
Argentina, Maradona's hand.
Germany, an oompah band.

The word "gun" which ends each refrain is a metaphor for friendly, playful puppies. They're a little clumsy, but filled with love.

A great start, for sure, now let's have one about daffodils!

Along the same lines, my family just adopted a blind cat from the shelter. He is definitely "a little clumsy, but filled with love."

Takes me back about 17 years when I was cleaning pools and on my Tuesday route in the older but exclusive Rancho Circle area was the persnickety Andrew Silverstein.

Nothing blows your slick image of “Dice” like an old man in a worn bathrobe who slowly comes out every visit with a crotchety Long Island tinged “Good morning Daniel, please don’t forget to clean the all the baskets for the automatic cleaner also!, Have a nice day young man.”

I like to consider myself "politically correct" but I have never not been a big fan of Andrew "Dice" Clay.

He was a nice enough customer. Just the polar opposite of what my image of him would be:

Today was the first Labor Day I didn't see him working
