Default 2024 Summer Olympics Cards from Topps?

Does anyone think Topps will release cards for the 2024 Summer Olympics? No cards were released for the 2022 Winter Olympics but sets were produced for the 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020 (2021) games.

A quick Google search found nothing for 2024 but maybe someone here has heard something.

If they do, they will probably be released in the fall, well after the event has happened

I'd expect Panini to have album stickers.

Topps UK is releasing an online Great Britain olympic team set soon. Perhaps Topps US will do the same.

Interesting. The Topps UK Team GB Set is £50.00 per box (roughly $63 USD) for 36 cards with a guaranteed auto card and two numbered parallels. The base set is 60 cards so you're not getting a full set per box. Three small insert sets (Icon, World Record, Prodigy) and three different types of autos (Base, Icon, World Record). The parallels are numbered 1/5/10/25/49 and the autographs 1/5/10/25/49/99.

https://uk.topps.com/products/topps-team-gb-set.html

Although the set is print on demand, the website notes the following: "Despite this set being printed to order, there is a maximum number of boxes we can produce. This is due to a fixed number of parallel cards and a guaranteed insert ratio."

I would definitely be interested in a Team USA version of this.

Any of those athletes in the autograph checklist good chases?

Shame Joshua or Murray don't have autos

I also hope there is a Team USA set. The Track & Field USA teams are loaded. Seeing that Upper Deck has Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone in 2023 Goodwin Champions, we may not see her in a Topps set though.

Jessica Ennis is a national hero... like ultra respected, Mo Farah, Wiggins, Gunnel and Redgrave/Pinsent.. All Athletes that have united the UK and got non-fans of Athletics on the edges of their seats. They are legitimate members of British history/pop culture. Redgrave & Pinsent are in the argument for greatest rowers of all time.

Sky Brown is only 15 years old and already represented GB at 11 years old in Skateboarding, and is likely going to represent GB in Skateboarding and Surfing in Los Angeles. She's the real deal.

I have no idea how the number of autos will be distributed per athlete but I'd be very happy with 6 (Jackson, Ennis-Hill, Gunnell, Redgrave, Farah and Edwards) of the 11 on the auto list. The other 5 (Richards, Proud, Hughes, Shreiver and Choong) are more niche but the younger ones might still have a chance to add to their story.

What’s up with topps having the rights to use gb crest for the Olympics. Yet they can’t use logos for England in euro set for soccer?

Completely different licensing deals, the English FA have a deal with Panini, whereas the Team GB Olympic team, of which the football team was a part, has one with Topps.

Got my dispatch notice for the Team GB sets this morning.

Plenty on eBay since yesterday.

Sad to see they are sticker autos. I kinda assumed they would be, but still a bit sad to have it confirmed. Such a small release. Would it really have been so hard to get on card?

The Team GB set is out.
I got a Beth Shriever auto - BMX cycling (88/99) and Steve Redgrave auto - Rowing (5/5).
Non-auto parallels of Tom Dean - Swimming (04/10), Josh Kerr - 1500M (10/25), Steve Redgrave - Rowing (19/49) Jack Laugher - Swimming (28/49)

I got ..

Autos : Jonathan Edwards /5, Steve Redgrave /49, Jessica Ennis /99

Parallels : Ryan Owens /10, Laura Kenny /25, Greg Rutherford /25, Bradley Wiggins /25, Charley Hull /49, Paul Casey /49

Noticed a couple of the parallels have the same manufacturing defect/mark on the left hand side of the cards.

Yeah, I've bought quite a lot of the Anthony Joshua cards (which is his second produced card, and his first Topps); though I'm quite disappointed at the lack of boxing love ~ Also, I hasten to add, the omission of boxing from Topps USA Olympic release a few years ago ~

The 2024 Summer Olympics start in just over a month. I think it's safe to say Topps is not releasing a trading card set, which is a bummer.

If there was a set, who would be the biggest signers? I'm talking names the general public will probably recognize, athletes who are famous outside their sport.

Simone Biles, assuming she makes it through the gymnastics trials, and LeBron James are probably the biggest names. Kevin Durant, Katie Ledecky, Stephen Curry, Carissa Moore, Coco Gauff, Scottie Scheffler, Diana Taurasi, too. Some of the other basketball players on both the men's and women's teams. Maybe Alex Morgan, Brittney Griner, and Sha'Carri Richardson. I say this as someone who doesn't follow any sports outside of the Olympics.
