The Brian Dozier Bowman Chrome project

I was going to wait a little bit longer to show this off until I had a few more of the easier to get parallels in hand, but with Dozier announcing his retirement today, it seemed like a fitting time to post this up. This isn't actually something I intentionally set out to do, pretty much everything came about organically as I just picked up cards of one of my favorite modern Twins. Just a little while ago I realized I had a good chunk of Dozier's Bowman Chrome cards from across the years and thought it'd be a fun display to show everything all in one place. Wish he had a card in the 2013 and 2016 sets (he has a base 2016 from vending boxes only, but no parallels) to really make it a fun complete run, but so it goes. Still missing 23 cards overall, but that drops to just 11 cards missing if you take out the printing plates. At any rate, it's been a lot of fun building this run so far! May try to keep this thread updated from time to time when I track down a new one I need.

I watched him play college ball and have always followed him, but haven't picked up many of his cards. That is a neat collection. I like seeing the post-1st Bowman collection as not many people bother to do that.

Nice! I wish he would have ended as a Twin, but was still a fun ride while it lasted.

I love the rainbow completion so far, keep it up. After the news of his retirement settles, these should become pretty cheap to pick up for the non rookie years.

It has been ages - since December 2022, I believe - since I last got in a new card for this project. And all that did was check off a few base and normal refractors. Well, I am super excited to be able to necro-bump this with some massive updates to the project:



Behold, the Bowman Chrome Brian Dozier superfractors from 2014, 2017, and 2018!

I was very lucky to come across a Dozier collector I hadn't met before who was willing to sell off some of their pieces. It's the opportunity player collectors dream of, so I knew I had to jump while I had the chance. The 3 supers above make up less than half of the cards that have come my way from them so far - the others are not strictly Bowman Chrome, but I just have to post them here alongside the others for the full effect



I am still a little speechless that all of these are now in my collection. I dreamed of finishing off maybe a rainbow or two of Doze someday, but this really opens the door for a lot of them to realistically be completely finished someday. And the 2012 Draft rookie being a part of this deal is one massive cherry on top!

Perhaps someday I'll expand what this thread to encompass some other sets despite the title referring to Bowman Chrome only. There are at least a handful of sets that I have a large percentage of the rainbow completed for, even if not including supers or 1/1s. But for now, I'm over the moon to be able to update this thread and the rainbow pictures in the OP with some awesome shiny gold circles!

I do have the base sapphire - but I read that only players that aren't in the Topps Chrome set get a super in the Sapphire set, as to avoid having two basically identical supers. Even if they do exist in the Sapphire set - https://www.cardboardconnection.com/...l-complete-set

Really this is just one of my sub-focuses inside of my Twins collection, in which I collect pretty much everything - but yes I am trying to build out his 2009 Draft run as well! Those cards are tough even today 15 years later. My best currently is a chrome gold refractor /50, it's been awhile since I've seen even just another copy of that show up somewhere, let alone an orange or red. Keeps the hunt fun

OP updated with another find for the master rainbow - 2014 Bowman Chrome Carbon Fiber Refractors /10!




I had actually tracked this down back in August on COMC for less than 10 bucks! I had it shipped to me with a bunch of other goodies in time for a vacation, which I brough this along with a box of cards to got through during my time off. I got through part, but not all of the box that I brought with, and due to a couple of insanely busy months after getting back, I forgot all about it! Until this week when I pulled it out from the box it was packed away in, and now I can process it properly

Checking this one off the list brings me down to only needing a Shimmer Refractor /15 and Red Refractor /5 to complete the 2014 rainbow minus printing plates. Those two, along with a 2015 Red Refractor /5 are now the only three non-1/1s I need for the entire master rainbow!

I've thought about doing this for a little while now - we're going to repurpose this thread a bit. It was originally made for progress specifically for my Dozier Bowman Chrome rainbow progress, but as I've continued to collect, I've made a lot of headway on a number of Dozier rainbows from other projects as well. So moving forward, I'll be sharing those here and there as well!

What better way to kick it off than to share my progress on Dozier's rookie rainbows. I realized recently that I am somehow down to only a handful of non-1/1s to complete all of Dozier's rookie runs, and even including 1/1s, this stash is getting to be formidable. Always on the lookout to help fill in what's left!
