So what do folks in the know think the Topps nba rollout will look like? Which brands come out first, estimates for dates, etc.
Do you think they will have Topps flagship waiting and ready to go as soon as the season ends? I think people are going to go nuts over reverence GU patch autos. I’m sure they will do NBA patch debuts as well. |

I would assume a paper flagship product... if they going to do things similar to baseball.
If they wanna shake things up or maybe try and make a statement I could see something new and unexpected. But, I feel like they'll want to set the tone with paper flagship.

It would take an almighty crapping down the leg by Topps to not make an improvement on Panini. Not that I think Panini was terrible, but it's time for a change. Topps will hopefully have their ish together. Toops Chrome will be a thing of beauty I hope. They have 3o years of product to learn from.

I think they'll definitely do some sort of Heritage / Archives-ish product.
Maybe some sort of "cards that never were" product or insert set. ie - "what if?" "rookie cards" for guys like Giannis, Luka, etc. who don't have Topps rookies. Maybe using the baseball design from those years. I think there's almost a guarantee that they'll do something to call attention to the fact that they're back after a long layoff.

I mean, even across their licensed products. Basketball is particularly bad but all of their products are trash. About the only thing that actually has genuine eye appeal IMO is some of their higher end Formula 1 sets This is not, by any stretch of the imagination, the Topps of old. Their 30 years of product history is almost irrelevant. At this point it seems more likely that they'll designate their product design to a Large Language Model/Generative AI based on the recommendation from somebody on the Fanatics board |

Transcendent base looks alright. What's that one where they put all those quirky sized cards together with dinosaur droppings and stuff?

The TC releases depend on that year's Topps base design -- it might be bland or ugly. They got rid of the metal frames for Transcendent this year, and now it basically looks like a generic Definitive or Diamond release. |

Yeah, the partially-licensed basketball releases have looked hideous. But I have to think the fully-licensed releases will look better. Although, it might take Topps some time to get up to speed -- they already have their hands full with the high-number of annual baseball products.

Actually, if they leaned heavily into their 2000s TC and BC designs, that could suffice for at least the first year -- they had some nice designs during those years.

I think they go all-in and do something like Upperdeckepack too. Doubtful on rollout but eventually. It would be illogical not to have a 24/7 case/box/pack break vrtual site where you open, grade and store in a vault where you can post a BIN price, auction or sit on. Never even have to handle them. Some people want to break on their own time immediately and not wait for a break to fill or a breaker to eventually get to their personal break.

Topps has tons of licensed cards in other sports that have always been better than Panini's mostly garbage designs. Topps unlicensed has little to do with how the licensed cards will be, and Fanatics has the money to make the initial Topps rollout better than anything Panini could ever have done.

It's terrible. It's almost as if they're trying things out. Plus they have also released some nice things. I really doubt they're gonna go down that path of using old designs for their first Topps Chrome release. Which is gonna need to hit.

They will recycle sets and designs from baseball. The card year should kick off with flagship. Topps Chrome will be some months later. Bowman will be the college brand and they'll continue to push it hard.
I will be looking forward to Stadium Club, Ginter, Heritage. They can and should do a lot of fun stuff in Archives. |

Will they recycle the Topps flagship base design? They didn't during the 2000s.

Honestly I'm kind of hoping Fanatics acquires Panini (if they can) just so we don't lose the good Panini products |

Panini's inserts are way underrated after you look past Downtowns, Colour blast etc

The flagship baseball base card design typically has baseball-themed aspects, like piping, baseballs and diamonds. They wouldn't work with basketball -- they'd need to at least be significantly altered to make it work.
