RJ Barrett Help….

Hello all,
I am looking to get a nice Barrett card. He is Canadian and plays for the Raptors, so I would like 1-2 decent cards of his. Problem is that I know nothing about basketball cards. I have a bunch of credit on COMC and would like to purchase on there. I have looked up completed sales on some cards I like and can’t find any comps. I really like this mosaic auto /8 https://www.comc.com/Cards/Basketbal...9/Graded/BGS/9

However, I have no idea what a fair price would be. I can’t seem to find many numbered versions at all, let alone one /8. If someone had some ball park ideas that would be really helpful. Or if you know of any other cards on COMC that could be good longer term investments/PC items. I just have no idea what is desirable in basketball, and on COMC prices can sometimes be pretty insane. I guess it depends. Do you want on-card auto? Sticker? Do you want something with a relic, jersey or patch?

The best source for comps on ebay is terapeak. You can search past 2-3 years. Thats where I found a couple sales of the Black Gold Choice Auto. SGC 9.5 sold for $190 in November and a PSA 9/Auto 10 sold for $137 a few months ago.

I would prefer on card, but o liked the low serial numbering of this.. how do you get terapeak? I just googled it and wasn’t sure.. is it an app? Thank you

No one cares about RJ Barrett from a hobby point of view - so I wouldn't go crazy on anything

Just search on 130 point and find something you like for a comp

Thanks.. the issue was that I was having a hard time finding things on 130 and struggling with what is desirable in the basketball hobby

How far back does 130 go? 3 months or so. Product Research/Terapeak go back years.

Just don’t overpay. He has no hobby following

Each day he has a little less of a following. I think for him hype might have peaked when he was doing great in the under 18 Canadian international play (before college). I think his values keep getting worse and worse. But a lot of people probably bought on the way down. I like him as a player, but not as an investment.

RJ is in a raptors uniform in this years optic and select. I’d try to pick up a gold holo/prizm #/10 from either one of those sets. He has a gold holo auto in 2023-24 optic #/10 (elite signatures). He’s in a raptors uniform but it’s a sticker auto. Looks like one sold on eBay for $86 and change. Gold holo/prizms are really nice. Try staying with true golds though (there are variations that aren’t quite as cool and desirable such as wave or disco/fast break)

Fingers crossed topps releases some kind of Olympic set. Loved to get a RJ in Canada uniform. A Canadian dual with god poppa Nash would be amazing (that’s a dream I know haha).
