Default The Official 2024: What are you opening for Christmas thread..

Hope everybody has a great holiday, we’re gonna get ready for this doozy sometime Christmas afternoon after the craziness dies down in the house. Anybody else breaking anything crazy this Christmas?

hahahahahaha that looks like so much fun. Just a table of cards so full like that -- very fun. What's the weather like on Dagobah now? I have too many questions about process and logistics but it looks like such a great time.

I've got some '92 Marvel Masterpieces Platinum blaster boxes I'll be opening bit by bit along with a box of Monster Masterpieces I keep picking at. I've been working on a binder of older movie sets so I also might open and sort some packs of Batman Returns. That's probably the max of things. I need to get my hobby space in better shape and I keep telling myself I need to wrangle the situation before I can add too much more to the situation

Thanks for sharing and asking. Happy holidays.

Thank You! Dagoba is running about 45° right now. 🤣
Also, I opened some masterpieces platinum and love the set. Cards are gorgeous, have a great Holiday!

Holy heck. Hahah. That looks like a Star Wars winter wonderland right there. Can’t wait to see some of the results, that’s gotta be fun.

I’m probably opening a blaster case of Marvel 92 Platinum and that’ll be it. I don’t usually open wax tbh, but had to get in on this as one of the last couple UD marvel MM sets and I really like the set.

One of the first ever products I broke in larger quantities. Some of those early sets were soooo fun!

I always look forward to your Christmas breaks. I like to live vicariously through you. Flew through Dagobah recently. Should have dropped by.

Wow! I still have so many of those same boxes and in similar quantities. Sadly 95% of mine are empty so yours are going to be much more fun haha. Good luck and can’t wait to follow the results a I do each year.

That is one hell of a stack right there! Good luck, I look forward to seeing what you get out of that.
I will be opening whatever the wife and kids bestow upon me, they generally curate an eclectic mix of stuff.

Holy Smokes that’s an awesome pile of goodies! I only have a lowly Dynamite Transformers 12-mini box case to open. Haven’t decided on my second A Christmas Story case yet. My back & neck dread the thought of more sorting.

I tried to hold out, but I already opened 3 of the 5 cases I bought: Shang-Chi, Eternals & 22/23 Finest Flashbacks Soccer.
I still have a case of Moon Night & 21/22 Finest Flashbacks Soccer to open on Christmas.

I have 3 boxes of Marvel Platinum I'm planning on opening.
I bought them many months ago.

What an awesome haul, and I have a question out of curiosity. Did you buy all these boxes/cases years ago and stash them away specifically to open on future Christmases? Or did you buy all these more recently (this year)? Good luck with the breaks!

Default The Official 2024: What are you opening for Christmas thread..

I must be doing something wrong, it would take me weeks to open that many cases/boxes.

I may break open another case of Women of Star Trek Art & Images but I think I have some loose boxes, so maybe a few of those. I have a bunch of Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi blasters somewhere, may open a few of those. And I have opened retail cases of 2014 Panini Country Music and 2015 Panini Americana I keep meaning to finish.

There’s a very good chance I won’t open anything on Christmas Day because I’ll be too exhausted and too stuffed full of ham and cookies. We shall see.

Good stuff. I would like to open some platinum masterpieces, unfortunately, opening this hobby product is prohibitively expensive, to just gamble and get low returns, so I'll stick to singles. If I plan to open some sealed boxes, it would be something in the $80 range, so I wouldn't get burned that much.

I am not super quick myself. I let my 2 middle kids open the packs and I organize the cards. I like to make sets as I go, because I know if I let too much stack up, I won't finish the job.

I initially passed on buying A Christmas Story, but after watching it with the kids, I just had to pick up 2 boxes! I know I won't be able to get all the autos, so I will just have to accept whatever I get! Lol

I ended up opening four retail boxes of 2015 Panini Americana and pulled two Star Materials cards (Jimmy Stewart and Lana Turner), one Winner's Circle Combo Signatures card (signed by Pat Day and D. Wayne Lukas), and a long-expired redemption for a Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio auto card. Specifically, it was for the retail exclusive On The Tube - Modern Signatures Gold auto card.
