Default Topps Garbage Pail Kids Series 2 InterGOOlactic Mayhem

Releasing in November 2023. Interestingly enough, only hobby and collector's hobby boxes will be sold; there will be no retail product for this set. Can't remember the last time (if ever?) that happened for a major Topps release.

I'm probably in for at least a case of regular hobby as this theme is very appealing to me, and I can't help but wonder if the lack of retail means boxes will be a little more loaded than usual.

Looks cool, seems like a miss to not include the foilfractors in the base set when the Artist AU and Patches feature them, either way looks like a good bit of fun space themed content

Also, this set is practically begging for Star Wars themed "parody" sketches

Kosmic Krashers is another nice addition, feels like Hobby-Collector is the way on this one (for me personally)

Topps has a list of things they won't parody because they've received threats or lawsuits. I believe all Disney properties are on the list, which includes Marvel and Star Wars.

I believe this is because they don't want to lose the Star Wars license or any potential future Disney licenses, not because they couldn't legally get away with doing parodies.

I'm excited for the set, I am going to get a case of hobby boxes I think. I did that for Vacation and worked out as compared to Book Worms where I bought stuff piece meal around.

With the Vacation case I basically had little to no repeated greens for instance so I got almost an entire set from the case, and similar with the base/insert set cards, I was able to make several sets to sell off. I got lucky and hit one of the short prints in the set that paid for 1/4 of the case, so that helped a bit lol. Doesn't seem like there's short prints in this, but without Blasters/Mega Boxes/whatever I'm hoping for better hit ratio for grey/golds in hobbies.

I find ripping the new retail stuff more exciting than Chrome so putting my money to that and just buying chrome base sets.

Yeah I've seen one of the artists, David Gross I think, state that exactly. Anyone can parody anything they want, like Mark Pingitores Slop Culture Kids Series 2 which has Mickey Mouse on the box and packs lol, but Topps doesn't want to annoy them in any way.

Blowout seems to have the best price on hobby cases, $340, $330 with code welcome if you've never used it like me haha. Can't wait, I am really doubting I'll get it in hand next week but that would be awesome!

I usually just pick up GPK at retail at Target or Wal-Mart when I see them. I'll pick up a couple blasters of this if I see them. I miss the precovid $10 GPK blaster price though.

They aren't having any retail or blasters for Intergoolactic. Only hobbies and collectors. GPKNews reported some distributors asked and were told that there was some production issue cause I don't know why they'd skip retail otherwise. So no yellow borders for this set.

I just went in for a taste w/three collector's hobby boxes, but fully prepared to go in for more if these are as fun as they seem like they'll be. Some of the sketches I've seen posted from artists are just awesome, it's going to be really fun seeing all the new art and tracking the hits from this set. I'll definitely post my rip results to this thread whenever I get back from my Thanksgiving travel.

In general for the newer sets I get a lot more juice out of them when they're popculture related. Vacation was fun enough but looking at the cards people want for parallels it's always the pop culture ones in addition to Adam Bombs. This will be basically Oh the Horror-ible but for scifi/space stuff. Looking at the check list there'll be a lot of good ones here!

I just got a shipping notice from Blowout, I hope to get the hobbies on friday!

Just bought a case of Collectors boxes, will post my results at some point (lots of traveling)

Ty to the OP for posting, may have missed this one otherwise

Most of it will go to my comc if anyone's looking, bigger hits to my eBay store

A couple of guys on the GPK facebook groups have gotten hands on boxes early and have been posting results. Card art for this series looks great, definitely hitting it out of the park for the sci-fi/horror fans.

Sketches I've seen also look amazing. This is the most collectible GPK set in years imo; certainly, more exciting than the last few Chrome/Sapphire OS releases, which have been producing diminishing returns.

I bought a case of these, will be busting it tomorrow. The Vacation set was a blast, and this one looks like more fun with the space theme.

Live on topps - hobby is cheaper than BO, but collector is higher than BO pre-sale price

The basic difference is the base parallel in each pack is a green parallel in hobby and black in collector. Collector comes with 1 guarantee hit, a wacky, a Krasher, and a 3D motion; those 3 aren't found in Hobby's at all. Otherwise they both are 24 packs with 7 base cards per pack and the 1 green/black parallel. They both have the insert subsets also.

I had a blast ripping this over Thanksgiving break. I grabbed three collector boxes from the LCS for $80 each, and then got my three pre-ordered collectors boxes the next day in the mail. Notable hits in the pic below. Breakdown as follows:

Printing plate x1
Space patch /199 x1
Fools gold /50 x3
Artist auto yellow /50 x3
Artist auto white /75 x1
Red /75 x4 (collector exclusive)
Space rock grey /199 x6
Box toppers x6 (one per box)

Absolutely love the art and deep reach/reference of the checklist. Can’t speak to the value of regular hobby versus collector boxes, but I’m pretty happy with my pulls, although I would have loved a sketch. The set is a big winner in my book, totally fun rip.

Unfortunately Topps didn't ship on Time and my case didn't come in last Wednesday, so I was bummed. It'll be in early this week though
