Default Finally: Tom Brady Contenders

At last I’ve landed my holy grail football card! For a while I was trying to get one under 1K, then under 3K...and ultimately decided I had to pull the trigger before it went any higher.

Slightly narrow, but the signature is perfect so I’m happy.

Ironically this card also came in this week - my favorite player to watch. If only the Pats had drafted him...

Quite risky to buy that raw. You will want to get that authenticated ASAP. But congrats assuming it all checks out

It was authenticated by PSA but not slabbed due to the dimensions

I really don't know grading. Can someone explain what this means? Was it a misprint? Fake?

Does authenticated mean it's real? Actually no sarcasm.

It's real, but isn't proper dimensions - (likely trimmed)

You bought a card that was clearly trimmed and you’re OK with it? If so, congrats on the pickup!

Threads like this are just one of the reasons scammers and trimmers thrive in this hobby

True but some cards are out of people’s range and having any real copy is fine. Not exactly a cheap card these days. I would still slab it as authentic, though.

Lower edges on sides are trimmed, clearly seen in photos!

Yeah but it looks like he paid over 3k for a card that is trimmed and won't be slabbed. Crazy. Trimmers couldn't be happier.

Congrats on the pickup! I definitely would want nothing to do with it, but to each their own.

Wtf is going on here...I bought the cheapest authentic copy I could afford.

How does that benefit trimmers? I didn’t pay a premium for any condition.

I bought the card for 5k and am happy with it.

It can indeed be slabbed as authentic altered. You just have to specify that.

If you have a nicer copy you’ll sell to me for 5k I’ll take it.

Where is the authenticated? Now that it's out of that PSA slab, theres no proof this one is authentic. Why didnt you keep it in the case?

Regardless, sick pickup, congrats!

Not sure what’s so hard to understand here. I’ve been trying to get one of these for a long time and finally got one for my PC. If I want to pay 200+ to get it slabbed as “Authentic Altered” at some point I will. But I’d rather enjoy the card raw.

I have pretty much every other Patriots Contenders RC and this is a massive addition to my PC. If you think there’s something wrong with buying a trimmed card because you can’t afford a high grade copy (that may well be trimmed), that’s too bad.

Well if a trimmer knows he can do anything to a card and if it gets rejected by PSA and BGS, there is someone out there that will still pay 5k for it, it makes his job a whole lot easier.

Oh well. Enjoy your card...

Nothing going on. You likely dont understand the distain involved.
Trimmers and card doctors are ruining this hobby, and since someone very likely trimmed yours with the SPECIFIC intention of slipping it by graders in order to obtain a high grade and a huge payday, and failed.. they have no choice but to sell it raw to an UNSUSPECTING buyer.
People stay far away from timmed cards for obvious reasons and because this particular card is one of the most momumentous and important modern cards in existance, it has been the focus of numerous douche bags for trimming and counterfeiting.
Some people look at your purchase as actually helping one of these people by taking it off their hands so they dont get stuck with it.. something we would hope to do to teach them any lesson we possibly could.
Nothing against you.. this is a very very difficult card to obtain these days because its so valuable, and the only ones that sell raw for short money (5k is short money for this card) is because its been altered.
Thats all.. these people are scumbags and predators and deserve to have their fingers trimmed at the first knuckle to make sure they cant rob anyone else. The posts above have nothing to do with you.
Get your card encapsulated to protect it and enjoy being the owner of one of the top rc cards ever printed in any sport.
