I assume you can't make a relic card set without the contracted license;
for example, you can't use Marvel Comic Book cuts without the Marvel license. But things like Concert Tickets can be used by anyone because there's no licensed material on the relic cut. I would 🤎 a "theme park" set with relics of Park Maps (like Disney's Magic Kingdom), but I assume that's impossible because you would need Disney's permission. |

I am surprised you would make such assumptions over these topics.
You obviously can't use "Marvel TM" all over your product, but you could certainly market "authentic comic book cuts" as your marketing. Similarly with the park maps, you could use the generic phrase "theme park map cuts" without using "Disney TM" Some smarter marketer than I would have to fill in the rest of the blanks for such a potential product, but there are obvious protections with First Sale doctrine, particularly for printed matter. |

I've made these for myself, but not sure there's anything wrong with selling them. It's my created design, the fonts are paid for, comic image is my own photo and book cut is my property. Curious what others think?

^ Since NOW! Comics went defunct in 2006, I imagine you're in the clear with these cuts.
Plus, they look great. |

If that's the case, I'm surprised there aren't more third-party cut products. There's hundreds of sketch card products, but I would rather have a fresh new "theme park" set or "comic cuts set" |

It has to be all in the wording. UD has made a set of National Park cut maps spread across four or five years of Goodwin Champions. They didn't draw the maps themselves, so they came from somewhere.

I believe cost would be the major factor in why there are less relic style cards from small publishing companies. Plain sketch cards are very easy to source and less expensive. Relic cards are a more involved process. That being said I’ve always wanted to help create them. Viceroy game me the opportunity with Space 2.

I'm surprised we don't see more artifact cards from Upper Deck as the cost to create them is so low and they consider them box hits or multi-box hits in Goodwin. I mean, buy a 1,000 stamps off Ebay for $1 and you have material for 1,000 world stamp relic cards for 50 different countries.
Foreign coins, casino tokens, gemstones, etc. are also really cheap. They do look cool on a trading card though. I have a ton of ideas for some innovative relics if I ever try my hand at doing a set like Viceroy did for Space. |

I've always thought Star Wars should do lightsaber beam cards with a little battery in the card that allows a colored light to show in the relic window.
