Question A Couple Tips for Buyers from the Dealer Side

I have set up 6 of the last 7 years and will be set up again this year. Booths 3205 & 3207. I just wanted to throw a couple tips out there for people attending the show and looking to buy and as a dealer somethings that make it easier to sell.

CASH IS KING- I cannot say that enough. I am personally more likely to cut a deal for $100 bills vs your venmo cash app pp. I use that money to rebuy at the show so it makes transactions easier to settle.

Make offers- I try to comp everything the night before. My stuff may vary depending on how hot the player is or how old the inventory is. I maybe priced under comps at comps or slightly above. Dont hesitate to make an offer. I much prefer you throw a number at me then just walk up and say "whats your best?" or "can you do less?". I cant guess where you want to be.

Bring a Bag or box- I know most people carry the cases anymore or have a backpack but not every dealer will have a bag or box if you buy a bunch of bargain bin stuff. I know two years ago I ran out on day two it was so busy.

Be Courteous of Dealers Space- It's not cheap to set up or to come to the national just as a guest. I cant tell you how many times someone has asked if I am buying or just simply putting their items in a there bags or cases and slams them down on my showcases.

Look forward to another fun National! For anyone attending for the first time there really isn't anything like it and I look forward to it every year!

Good tips. IF I make it up there, I will stop by the booth.

Good info.

Also, don’t be the guy offering $23 on a $30 card when the dealer says “how about $25?”

Another tip from dealer side, sometimes we mess up and miss price something. Be a normal person. I know this is hard for people sometimes.

“So one of these just sold for $200, you have it at $300, could you do $175?” is a lot better than shoving phone in someone’s face and making a smart ass comment.

Can’t emphasize how cash is definitely king and how you shouldn’t do customer to customer deals on a dealer table.

People really do that at these shows?

In my experience, people really enjoy doing business with sarcastic jerks. Don't know why you think this strategy is bad.

Yes, they always want to ‘win’ every transaction.
