Been a lifelong caps fan growing up in dmv area. Named daughter after him. He has been fun to watch over the years. Few players can play as hard as he does year in and year out and still have the skills to put the biscuit in the basket.

Shootout goals do not count towards a player's career goal total.

You could tell he didn't want an empty netter for 802, he dished it off as soon as he got into the zone...

But then it came back to him and it was like he said "f it" and just threw it at the net...

Lol. Seems a lil ridiculous to say it’s a stupid league. Pretty sure basketball and most major sports don’t count playoffs stats towards season totals

Then you would have league records held by players that played on deep dynasty teams only.

Playoff records are in a separate category but they seem to have less weight with hall of fame voters. I tend to disagree with that as that is where every player wants to be playing in at the end of season.

I generally lean toward the old school but I’m rooting for Ovie. In my opinion he plays a more old school game than Gretz ever did. I always leaned toward the power forward types (Neely, Lindros, etc) so it’s cool to watch a guy that is such a caveman do the things he’s doing.

I think my reasons go back to the World Junior days and having seen how all that came together and fell apart on Ovi.

Lots of trash talk/hype, etc, back then but when Ovi decided to leave the ice/quit the game because he couldn't take the hits anymore, (among other things) it really soured me of him.

There is no doubt in my mind he has changed for the better, become a better person, but I guess that, the World Juniors, will always be stuck in the back of my mind? That, and I'd like to see the record remain in Canada too, but that's just me, which may be old school thinking, I don't know?
