Default Early All-Star game picks

Did this last year, so I figured it would be fun to do it again. All teams are over 20 games in. Who do you think makes it this year? Here are my picks:

East starters

Embiid
Giannis
Tatum
Mitchell
Trae

West starters

AD
Zion
LeBron
Luka
Steph

East bench

Brown
Holiday
Haliburton
Durant
Butler
DeRozan
Garland

West bench

Booker
Ja
Sabonis
Lauri
Towns
Shai
Jokic

Yeah I'm thinking Jokic sneaks in.

Yeah, huge brain fart. Don't know how I missed it. Edited the bench to add him.

hmmmm

AD on a 9-game heater after an entire season of playing like a scrub, or the reigning B2B MVP?

Gosh that's so tough to call.

Lets put on our thinking caps

Do we think better with a monocle on?

the disrespect is palpable.

I got AntMan making the West reserves this year. Especially with KAT injured right now, Edwards should put up some huge games.

AD is leading the NBA in PER, and second behind Luka in Win Shares...

And we all know how Jokic supporters love those metrics.

Right now I'd still have Jokic, due to the fact the Denver has a much better record than the Lakers. But it's not that much of a stretch to say that the guy averaging 5.4 more points, 2.7 more rebounds, 1.8 more blocks per game should be starting the ASG.

lol they're tied in this... and funnily enough, if you look at WS/48 [the better metric] - it's Jokic #1 and AD#2. Props to AD for pulling himself up by his bootstraps but it's just funny how BO couldn't wait to knock him from the starters. It's just too predictably funny to me.

Yeah, IDK. Bball-ref lists AD as #2. I assume it's by fractions.

But if you think it's crazy that the guy who officially leads the NBA at his position in points and rebounds is even mentioned as a possible all star starter, then I don't know what else to say.

Do people not realize that AD, Zion and LeBron have way more fans than Jokic? There's nothing controversial about that.

where are you pulling that from?

Here's every frontcourt player who got at least a million votes.

Quote:
2022 Frontcourt voting results:

1. LeBron James, Lakers (6,827,449)

2. Nikola Jokic, Nuggets (4,132,522)

3. Andrew Wiggins, Warriors (2,644,571)

4. Paul George, Clippers (2,312,248)

5. Anthony Davis, Lakers (2,071,920)

6. Draymond Green, Warriors (1,861,562)

7. Carmelo Anthony, Lakers (1,449,475)

8. Karl-Anthony Towns, Timberwolves (1,195,004)

in the backcourt - Only Steph had more votes than Jokic. So Lebron and Steph were more popular - that's it.

You mean when Zion wasn't playing and AD was underperforming?

Both are playing at an All-NBA/borderline MVP level right now. That makes a difference. Some fans want to see their favorites start but also recognize when someone is playing better.

Jokic might edge them but the way they are playing, he's the underdog when it comes to fan voting.

Rest looks good.
