Default Does anyone know anywhere to sell a massive collection??

Talking easily $150k+ of alot of smaller cards, prob 2000+ autos, 4000+ game worn jersey cards.

If anyone knows a direction to point me, would definitely appreciate it.

I bought 99% from it from boxes I opened personally and always planned to pass it down to my kids, but almost 40 now and still no kids so just going to try to move it.

Thanks in advance for the help! I've browsed around here a lot but never really posted, but love the group and help I've seen.

I have seen cosignment options, but was looking more for a large buyer to move it all to.

The cards are mostly football 2006-2010 , have some older basketball and very very few baseball, but also have some older football as well , but make up a small portion.

Here on BO is a good start, but you’ll need to provide some more details such a location and pics. If you do list it here, you’ll need to put a price on it. A little work up front with details on your end will be beneficial to you in the long run. Unfortunately large collections are sold cheaper than piecemeal, so be ready for that. If you have any local card shows you could go to different dealers with all the details and they may be able to assist as well.

I live in south FL now but my collection is here and in Mississippi. I missed the last card show here from being busy with family stuff, but ya, if it's pieced out, It would be a fkin fortune but don't have the time or $ to send everything in to be graded and individually list as I've never even been to any card show nor sent anything ever to be graded. Even then it's a massive collection.

Once I get most everything top loaded, Will be able to post more in detail

Thanks for the response

Do you live in a populated area? If it’s 100 K cards, probably best for in person transaction. Even if you have to drive an hour to meet someone. I’d take pics of all the autos, game used, good cards. Like 50-100 cards per picture so it’s clear. Of course that may be a loooot of pictures but much easier to just upload pics than type out the cards. Most people can estimate value quickly with pics.

Then put a price on it, field offers here or maybe on a Facebook group, or even maybe put it on eBay as best offer too. Wait a week and pick highest offers from person who seems legit too. I’d think at least 10 K should be offered, maybe way more depending on quality. Keep in mind many people like card websites can pay $1 per auto / game used too. If it’s low end stuff there may make sense to send shipment to a site that does at for those. Or just keep in mind a buyer may utilize just service.

Oh for sure, I'd be looking more in the range of 100k for the collection as seeing as if it's graded and singled out it should bring around 250k.

Thanks for all of the info and will make sure to do that.

I was looking to sell some of my vintage cards (not nearly as many as you) but I found DA Card World, Just Collect and Kruk Cards which might be more suited for you since they buy big collections.

You’re setting yourself up for disappointment using graded pricing for ungraded cards. Obviously very few want to do that work and if it was easy, you’d have done it already. Another factor is location. You’re better off selling it as two different collections since you’re taking across the country apart. It’s important to take pictures of key cards in groups, so autos, game used and key rookies. Also, don’t waste money on top loaders. Just use them for the key cards you take pics of. You’re just putting more money into the collection.

If this is the price you are thinking after its graded around $250k then more than likely someone is going to offer you like $50,000 because of all the work they are going to have to do. Even at that price they may end up losing money.

Another issue is the years you mentioned. 2006-2010 isn’t exactly the most groundbreaking rookie classes. Off the top, Adrian Peterson, Calvin Johnson and Gronk come to mind. QB wise, only Stafford and Matt Ryan. After that it’s players like Joe Thomas, AB, Tebow, Shady and a few others. You really have to be Tom Brady heavy in autos and low numbered parallels to get to the amount you seek

Yea the problem is Quanity doesn't equal Quality and it doesn't equal Money.

Could be totally wrong since its an assumption without seeing any pictures, but like Arch mentioned unless there are a ton of Bradys might be really tough.

Thanks for making this post so I didn’t have to. 06-10 is really a pretty rough period excluding Brady. Not much that stands out other than the rookies noted, a select few refractor sets, and mem and autos of the few top QBs and HOFers.

And 99% pack-pulled means there will be a lot more junk than gold.

Here on blowout will be hard because if you think a card is worth $100 but it’s actually selling for $80 then they will offer to buy for $30. Then the other way around if they are selling, if it sells for $80 they will sell for $130. It’s an odd place to sell/buy sometimes. But you do find reasonable people at times.

Unless you sell it at a fire-sale price, you will need to do a bit of work first to get the most out of your cards. I'd personally separate it into quality cards and junk cards, as even autographs can be worth nothing depending on the manufacturer/player. That way someone isn't looking through a hundred pictures looking for the gems, which not everyone will do. Some big dealers will frequently pay $1 per auto or jersey card, regardless of the player so make a stack of those. Then with the higher value cards, take good pictures (multiple cards in one picture is fine) and use those to get interest. The quantity isn't the important thing to get the best price you can, its making sure you highlight the best and then you'll get a low bulk price offer for "the rest" so to speak.

If you are really looking to sell now, just keep an open mind. Its likely you won't get offers close to what you are seeking, unless you have some low serial number Brady autographs, 1/1 refractors, etc. If you do have any cards worth $250+ raw (or so) that are in good condition, I'd recommend just getting those graded. Even if it is ~50 cards it will bring in more eyeballs to your collection and increase its overall value.

You'll definitely get some interest but I'd try to get to it sooner than later as there are some signs that the market is slowing. Good luck!

I forgot where I ran across this video but does a great job breaking down what dealers are thinking when it comes to making offers on collections. YMMV but keep in mind that unless YOU are going through all the effort to list cards, track sales, package/ship, and all the time it takes, don't expect to get anywhere near top dollar.

I agree with this post. You almost should be thinking of trying to sell the top 20% of the good stuff and basically throwing in the other 80% just to get rid of it.

Steel City was doing that at the National. Their website currently says:

Sport Auto* GU*
Baseball $1.25/ea $1.25/ea
Basketball $1.00/ea $1.00/ea
Football $1.00/ea $1.00/ea
Hockey $1.00/ea $1.00/ea

My opinion would be to eBay the best cards (i.e. over $100) and sell the rest as a lot.

As someone who owns a card store and occasionally buys bulk lots (though not nearly this big), I’d agree with the assessments that if you think this collection is worth $150k raw and $250k graded then you’d struggle to get more than $50k for it. Anywhere near $100k is extremely unlikely.

Depends, if you get someone local, it could be a lot better. Cash , local pickup and no returns. The last place to sell your autos and game used is for $1…that’s for sure

That really depends on the auto or relic. In some cases, even as a shop owner I’ve been thinking about bulking out some of the stuff I’ve picked up in the past year to these places that buy for $1 each. It’s hard to move “hits” of common players.
