Default Tristan Thompson - Could Be Father of the Year

Basketball players get some fine ladies

“Btw if you think having this baby is gonna make you some money. It’s completely wrong. You are aware that I’m retiring after this season. So in terms of support it will be whatever is required monthly for someone who’s unemployed.”

“It’s Texas so it will be only a couple hundred dollars. So you better off taking this 75k I’m offering cause you won’t get nothing near that with having a kid with a father who’s unemployed.”

“All you will have is a baby with a father who has zero involvement with the child and a few hundred dollars of child support a month.”

Cold as ice if true. She trying to get that money and he ain’t havin’ it

Wow, what a stand up guy. He’s trying to hurt her but will be hurting the kid. He’s made around 120 million in 10 years on the court, spare a little for your child.

I'm sure the kid will be alright. Its the mother he doesn't want to support.

I bet if the kid is a superstar, he'll be the first one there to help spend the money.

Imagine being so opposed to paying child support for your kid that you would be willing to retire from the NBA.

Wouldn’t be as bad if that were the case, but…

I am not defending TT or any of the men who think with their genitals and not their brain. We only hear about the “rich” who come and go (pun intended), but there are lots of walk away dads, mine included. She was looking for a retirement package. She got one, but he is balking at the price.

In a time when disease is everywhere, why no protection? She hustled him with her looks and other things. He is simply exhibiting the behavior you would expect. Oh well!

When the bad guy in the movie reveals the master plan, giving the other person enough time to come up with their own plan.

I do believe he can be hit for child support based on his previous work earnings, so he should probably keep either his plans on not paying or his d*ck wrapped up.

Some of these guys are dumb as a rock. Child support is based on earning potential. You can’t get out of it or get it reduced by not working.

If he's not in the NBA, his earning potential is significantly lowered. Not like people are lining up to have him endorse their sneakers and cars, either.

No idea about TX child support laws.

what a piece of trash, I understand she is a gold-digger but it is his kid people should take care of the kid no matter what. I dont care if the mom is a piece of trash herself TAKE CARE OF YOUR KID...MAN UP.....Maybe I am bias because my crappy father was never around. I also think ridiculous child support amounts should be eliminated. That is what needs to be changed. There is no reason why raising a child could not be capped off at a certain amount say 5000 a month. If you cant raise a kid on that then you need to LOWER YOUR STANDARDS.... Anyway this guy is a bad example of what a MAN is.

Assuming he has 20 million left from at least the 120 million he’s earned from player contracts pre tax, I would hope he has it invested and drawing interest. The nba also has a very rewarding pension plan. Would that be considered income and factor in to how much child support he would pay?

Significantly lowered, for sure. But if he had any sense to invest any decent portion of his lifetime earnings, he is likely earning passive income. Anything with his image/likeness (which may not be much), any investments in businesses that are paying dividends, stocks, etc. that are not part of his retirement savings.

When my uncle passed away in 2018, while his estate was in probate, his estate earned 1.5 million in passive income alone and he was worth at best 1/6th of what Tristan is worth. There could be millions coming in that Tristan doesn't even know about (I'm sure he has "a guy" who manages that).

So, she may not be getting a % of his NBA yearly salary if he retires, but unless he can shelter the other money, she's gonna come out okay.

I was responding to rms13’s post that TT was retiring early to get out of paying child support. If he can still play in the NBA, retiring won’t lower his earning potential. She would have to be even dumber than he is (hard to fathom) to take the 75k.

Good for him. Child support and family court laws are an absolute scam, especially for any of the men involved.

Look at male suicide rates for vets going through divorce proceedings.

I hope the gold digger barely gets a penny.

There's absolutely no reason why child support isn't capped at a certain USD maximum per month regardless of the fathers income.

Steering clear of IG "stars" when you're a NBA player/rich guy is a good first step in avoiding these situations
