Default orel hershiser

Hi, just wondering when did he become such a hot card. Just checked COMC and seen that he had only 2 numbered cards available. The site had 129 so 127 are sold out and only 2 remain. When did he become such a thing? I know he help win a world series and had the innings streak. But other players had great runs and sell nothing like that, please explain.

Veterans committee candidate maybe? He's got better career stats than some that are in the HOF already. Cy Young Award, World Series Ring, Silver Slugger, Gold Glove, ALCS MVP, NLCS MVP, WS MVP, and a POY to boot. 59 Scoreless innings in a row! 200+ career wins, 2000+ career strikeouts. And he's a nice guy.

Before people get their panties in a wad... I'm not saying he is a hall of famer. I'm just speculating on why there might be a demand for his cards right now.

Give him another 5-10 years in the booth -- with or without Joe and he gets there either way.

This. He’s a guy who gets discussed from time to time as a vets committee player. Wouldn’t shock me at all if he got in someday.

Super nice guy. Met him many times. Always very gracious and accommodating to everyone. I was a 15 year old sitting with him in the stands at Dodgertown in 1984 while he was charting pitches and we talked about cards for 2 hours. He was a BIG collector. He wasn't well known at the time.

Good pitcher BUT Fernando will make the Hall before him. Fernando-mania was a thing, Orel-mania is a word that has never been typed until just now.

And don't overlook MLB The Show. People who didn't see him play use him in Diamond Dynasty, and the last few years he's been an end game pitcher. So people become fans of him through that, and start looking up his cards.

A lot of Dodgers collectors back into collecting after their World Series win.

His 59 scoreless innings is something that probably will never be broken, especially in todays baseball. Thats 6 consecutive shut out games! Eight shutouts in 1988 and 25 for his career.
