Default Use to fill Easter baskets with retail

I use to fill my sons Easter basket with a variety of retail packs and some blasters. That is obviously not happening this year. I have a lower end hobby box in mind. My question is and I’m sure it’s been asked, are these the prices we are looking at going forward?

It’s a shame. I refuse to pay $60 for a retail product. Flippers for cards have become like ammo flippers. I was recently at a sporting goods store and was asked by a random person to buy two boxes of ammo and he will meet me in the parking lot. YEAH, NO!!! For multiple reasons!
I don’t love this hobby that much to pay triple a retail price.

A work stoppage next year could reshuffle the deck. Those who view this as just an investment could sell off their unopened box hoards and never come back.

I miss buying clearance blasters when the only thing to contend with was the creepy pack searcher guy. Now I have to wait in line at Walmart in the cigarette lane with my son to buy a two pack limit of series 1 and when I ask for two packs for each of us they look at me like I’m the creepy pack searcher guy.

I miss ignoring retail because it was retail instead of hoping I get lucky every time I make a trip to Target.

I used to do the same thing. He would always get some packs of Topps baseball and WWE.

I see these guys at target pulling good money on unemployment. Spending all day waiting for the vendor, then jumping in their leased bmws.

Guys on unemployment are making good money but you need to be connected to get it I'm sure

Also to be fair we all should have seen this coming

Look at 2011 update, retail boxes were a lot pre covid, now they are to the moon

I hate not getting much retail but people realize that if yordan or lou bob have an mvp, 2020 will explode. If moutcastle hits like crazy, 2021 series 1 to the moon. If Soto hits 400, 2018 update way up. Tatis wins mvp, 2019 series 2 to thousands.

Retail wax has become more diversified prospecting

Just recently the stuff goes super quick
After the good stuff was taken months back, I watched a guy search a stack of topps fire packs
I nearly threw up, but the guy looked like he just got out of prison so I just left

It's actually been a blessing for me.

No more wasting time looking for retail, saved a bunch of $$ too not buying retail.

do I miss opening? sure, but not as much as I thought.

My mom once bought a box of cards and hid packs around the house for me to find. It was an Easter egg hunt with packs! That was so cool. If you have kids this is a great idea. With current prices, this can’t even be done

This thread is proof that Topps must dramatically increase supply.

Same here. Was lucky to get some Playbook FB a few months back went it went live online. Kids will still be happy, they don’t care.

That sounds like fun! Both my kids love baseball and Easter, so I'm going to try to sprinkle in a few packs to go along with the hidden eggs.

Time to go to dollar tree and pray for a miracle of finding some baseball packs...

I know the card market is crazy, but these guys are also raking it in on PS5s and the new XBOX and fancy graphics cards. Flippers are everywhere.

Wouldn’t the singles people be opposed to this?
