Default Would this turn you away...?

Hi all,

I'd like some opinions... as a collector, how do you feel about a cut auto displayed in this way? The auto originates from a gateway stamps autographed cover signed by Junior in 1989... it's 100% authentic and is a nice rookie pen signature. However, I'm not sure if the setup and display format, positioning of the cut in the slab etc. would turn off other collectors and fans. I personally don't mind it a ton as I have been looking for a pen autograph of Griffey for a while and the HoF plaque lists his career accomplishments but it's always nice to have some other opinions.

Thanks!

I'd prefer the cut to be above or below the plaque, but if there was a size issue with the slab I think that's where it had to go.

I'd rather have the signature down the bottom covering up the Hall of Fame Cooperstown than the top of the plaque.

Just buy a Gateway cachet.

I think the placement at the bottom would have been better, it just looks out of place

I agree on that aspect. The auto is nice and bold but the placement sure is funky.

I would actually make a window in the card instead of the paragraphs on the plaque, then insert the auto there.

I'd love to pull any Griffey auto, but I pulled something that heinous I would be pretty disappointed.

On a long deceased player, maybe. On Ken Griffey Jr? Nope.

If I was looking for a Griffey rookie pen and the price was right on it. I wouldn't really care since it's the auto that I really wanted. If the price was comparable to other rookie pens then I'd probably pass. Not sure why they'd pick covering his head over the bottom words.

Is the cut auto just glued to the top of the post card? Looks just slightly better than those Super Break The Bar cards.

Personally, I'd prefer just the cut auto in the slab. Or centered on a black background.

I've can crack it out, then I have someone I know that can create a window into the postcard and mount it nicely. I did a mock up and it looks a lot better than being placed at the top. Cracking it out wouldn't be a probelm since I know it's real and it wouldn't leave my PC.

I understand. I think it's funky too! You can't beat a Junior auto though. Thinking about breaking it out and doing something custom with it or changing it's orientation.

I don't know what's worse, the placement of that cut, or the fat Ken Griffey Jr face on the plaque..

I dont love it personally but if youre saying you dont mind and the price isnt crazy then i dont see why you shouldnt buy it. And if its not leaving your pc then crack it out and do whatever the hell you want with it like you mentioned above. My vote is if the price is right you should definitely buy it before its too late.
