Later this year, I'm thinking about grading all my Trout cards. Thing is, I want them all to be in the same holder, either PSA or BGS.
I'd be grading the big 3 autos from 09 (chrome, sterling, eee), 2010 platinum, his 2 RC auto cards from 11 plus all 7 of his non auto RC cards from 2011. 3 of them are already in PSA holders but wouldnt hesitate to crack them out to send to BGS if i do the BGS route. Questions: which holder offers better card protection? Which holder is more desirable for these cards, if you can only pick one? |

In regards to the issue of which is more desirable, I don't think there is a right or wrong answer here, and that the choice is subjective. Some people like how PSA's flips are all uniform regardless of the card's grade. Those people usually dislike how BGS uses different color flips (black, gold, silver, and white) depending on the grade of the card. These people are usually concerned about how their collection looks when displaying a whole bunch of cards together. BGS also has two different flips when grading autograph cards. Sometimes you get the one big flip which has the autograph grade on the back, sometimes you get the smaller flip which only show's the card's grade, and a separate square flip which shows the autograph grade. I do find this aspect of BGS's grading to be annoying; I think they should just stick to one or the other. Some people dislike how PSA's flips look like they're from the 1980s, and prefer the more modern look of BGS's flips. Some people want to know why their card got a certain overall grade and thus why they prefer BGS since BGS has subgrades (unless you opt for BGS' new service which offers no subgrades). Some people don't like how PSA has "qualifiers." You'll often hear people say vintage should be graded by PSA and modern should be graded by BGS. Some people follow this advice, some don't. It's up to you.

I did BGS for protection purposes but should've listened to TBP. Resale value is not even funny

BGS has a superior case in my opinion, if I drop a BGS card I don’t blink an eye, it’s safe.
However, PSA has ridonkulous resale value vs BGS. So anything that has a realistic chance at a PSA 10 always goes to PSA first |
