Was this something Upper Deck did special for the following year?

I’m not too familiar with this. here is the 1991 Upper Deck basketball set. It seems to be in some box which has 2 pics of Jordan’s jsy on 2 sides.
Was this a special thing they did for this set?

These were what they called "locker boxes". In their original form they contained unopened packs. You have the 1992-93 version. There was also a 1991-92 version that was similar except it the material was just cardboard boxes (a set of 6 different) instead of the plastic ones you have.

Those sat in the clearance section of my old LCS.

I opened so many of these back in the day, both years. I feel like they were like $12-$15 a box, maybe less. probably more like $8-$10

Thanks for all of the information on this. What it sounds like you’re saying it is, that it would not add to the value of the set. Is that correct?
More just adding to the enjoyment or appealing to the buying cards.
