Default The future of 2003 Lebron James Topps Chrome Rookie Card

I have a BGS 9.5 Topps Chrome Lebron James Rookie card.
The current price is very high about $6000, I am debating if I should sell it now or keep waiting on it.
What’s your thought about the future of this card? Thanks

This inquiry would be best directed at a modern day philosopher like Jeff Goldblum.

Let's go through a thought experiment.

Lets say - you have 6k electronic cash just burning a whole in your digitcal paypal account. It is feeling good and ready to be zapped to zero . Then, Bam, You saw a listing for a Lebron James Topps Chrome BGS 9.5 and it cost a whopping $6,000 Buy It Now - whoo hoo.

Do you jump in and snap that bad boy up?

If not - go ahead and sell - you don't really seem to believe in it anyway.

Things to think about:

-Will future folk care about BGS?
-Will future folk care about bass rookies?
-Will future folk card about Lebron?
-Will future folk have time travel and be able to traverse to the past and snag at a greater price, signaling the ultimate downfall of the hobby as we know it?

Just things to consider.

How far in the future? In Star Trek: The Next Generation, they actually featured a Babe Ruth baseball card as an ancient earth artifact.

I guess it depends on how you think the Lakers are going to do. If they repeat, it is going to go higher. As long as LeBron is still playing at a high level and chasing Kareem's points record, the card is going to be solid.

I'd throw up if LeBron did eventually pass Kareem's record and say

"That one right there, that made me the greatest Laker of all time"

Magic won the Lakers 5 championships. LeBron needs 4 more to be in that discussion.

Personally, with the impact previous Laker's greats have had on basketball, specifically Kareem and Magic....LeBron's not even in the discussion and never will be.

Hold until atleast this season starts, as long as Lebron doesn’t get hurt early, it will go up. During the playoffs this year it was around 9-10k.

Long term 5+ years it has potential - Lebron could break the all time points record, win another ring, retire and still be very much in the public eye.

Look at how Jordan’s have done over the last 10 years - they increased long after retirement, Lebron RCs could do the same.

There is certainly an argument. Magic changed the Laker's culture from that of a perennial runner up to a championship franchise. Kareem sat at home and watched.

The GOATs only go in one direction. Unless you need the money RIGHT NOW for something more important you may as well hold and enjoy. You're probably into it for wayyyyyy less than current value and the chances of it falling to the point you take a loss are practically zero. Take comfort in the fact you get to hold an asset like that. I'd much rather have that card than whatever Luka is selling for $6k right now.

I'd sell. But only because it's BGS.

So sell that card and buy a PSA LeBron.
