Default Panini redemption lost in transit

So here’s a new one...I recently had two redemptions fulfilled by Panini - first a Giannis Immaculate patch auto red /25, which arrived safe and sound about 10 days ago. The other one was a KD Optic Signature Series auto, which was shipped a day before the Giannis but never showed up.

I checked the tracking from FedEx on the KD and the package says it’s currently at a FedEx location near where I live (maybe an hour away), but the status has not been updated in nearly 2 weeks and there is no ETA for when it will arrive. I called FedEx today and they said at this point all they can do is mark the package as lost in transit, and I need to contact the shipper to have them open a claim so I can be reimbursed for the value of the package.

So what are the chances I’ll be able to get Panini to do anything here? I’ve called, emailed, and tweeted them ad nauseam regarding redemptions in the past and have never received any kind of response. I guess I should thank my lucky stars it was the KD that was lost and not the Giannis, but I’m still out a nice PC card that I already waited almost a year to be fulfilled, and now I feel like it’s going to take another year to try and get some sort of restitution. Any tips?

I just had the same thing happen. I had a replacement ship out from them via Fedex. It stopped moving after it left the last Fedex location in Olive Branch, MS before transitioning to smartpost and it hasn't updated since the 17th. I called Fedex and they told me the same thing. I've had 4-5 packages from Topps go the same route since then and no issues. I haven't been able to get a reply from Panini as well. It was about a $35 card, but still frustrating.

Others may have a better approach, but if it was me, I’d bite the bullet and drive the hour to the location. I’ve had the best luck getting people to help me track things down when it’s face to face.

agree
for that kind of card i'd recommend driving out to the location and seeing what is going on. fedex shouldn't be having these issues.

Its not worth the drive honestly. You can save yourself the hassles. Try and get a hold of someone at the location. Key here is getting a hold of someone. Typically you can have them call you (you getting the direct number there is much harder). Once you have boots on the ground you'll stand a good chance.

2nd phone call needs to be to talk to Panini and have them start the claims process and/or tracking of the package. As the shipper they'll need to do all the legwork on this anyways. But I'd bet starting this gets the package found.

Thanks for the responses. I’ll try calling the FedEx hub directly and see if I can get a hold of anyone there and maybe they can help me out. If not, I’ll just contact Panini and hopefully I can get someone there to respond to me for the first time ever. I looked up the address of the FedEx location and it’s actually close to two hours away, so I’m not sure I want to make that drive up there on the off chance they might be able to find it if I show up.

UPDATE - I just got a response from a Panini customer service rep for the first time ever, after 2.5 months of emailing and calling about this redemption that got lost in the mail. I had to do a double take because I couldn’t believe an actual human responded to me. They are sending a new card to me to replace the lost one, and according to the tracking it is supposed to arrive by next Monday!
