Default Michael Jordan Retro Flair Showcase Masterpiece 1/1 from The National

I want to start by saying this is not my card....I just had the pleasure of helping a friend open a case of Retro Basketball and happened to pull the Michael Jordan Flair Showcase Masterpiece 1/1. I received an e-mail today from Chris Carlin of Upper Deck with the link to their blog. If you keep reading and scrolling down you will see me with a goofy grin on my face and then a close-up of the card.

I just thought it was really cool and thought I would share. It was definitely the best pull of my lifetime (even if it wasn't my card and I didn't get to keep it! )

Collectors Went Crazy for Fleer Retro Products at the National Sports Collectors Convention | Upper Deck Blog

For those that can't click the link or don't want to:

Congrats on the hit! Should be interesting to see what that would for. Did that come from the UD booth?

I busted the case at the Upper Deck booth during the case break promotion. If you opened a case you got a ticket for a prize in their display. This Jordan came from the Retro case though. Another member on here (weedyalan) and I busted the case for a friend. I just happened to have the lucky half of the case....

....seems like they held this card to be released at the National. Congrats to you/your friend though, that's a monster hit. Are you gonna keep, let it ride, or throw a ridiculous bin on it?

Honestly, I have no clue what he did or what he is doing with the card. I haven't seen it since that day. I keep checking ebay though to see if it pops up, but nothing yet. I would just love to know what it ends up selling for, but really that is none of my business either...lol

I just thought it was cool of him to let me take the picture with the card. I went to hand the card to him (very carefully) and he said something along the lines of "No, you pulled the card. You go ahead and take the picture." It was a thrill for me to say the least.

If a Reggie Miller 1/1 could sell for $77,000.00........ Then this Jordan is a $300,000.00 card

Wait a second- can you please verify to us that the case was NOT purchased at the upper deck booth? Everyone would have a heart attack if it was.

Then again , ud could have very easily brought some cases from their warehouse to the show and sold them to specific dealers, knowing very well they were having this promotion- planting the seed so to speak.

I can say for sure 100% that it wasn't from the Upper Deck booth. They weren't even selling cards. I want to say it was purchased from the Blowout booth.

Yeah... And I'm not even sure if that was the ending price!

I think that may have been the price I remember while the auction s was still live. Can someone confirm that "true" ending price? I'm sure it was legit............. So this Jordan is out of this world!!!! Not a $1000 card, no. At least $300,000.00 and possibly more! well based on the legit Miller "sale."

And yes, I know the Miller was from the oh so famous 90's inserts..... I started collecting cards in 1992, and I have a few favorites from the times, but not most cards... Lol smh buy yeah, the Miller was from the amazing maze 90's inserts - greatest cards in the hobby, and that ever will be.

Why did the owner not open his purchase?

He was busting more than one case and wanted some help. It was all done basically for the promo since there were Jordan autos and a bunch of other cool stuff you could get for opening a case. The case was literally handed right to me and then I heard....have fun. I did!

Some crazy pulls happening right there, and not a one of those cards were in a magnetic or even a top loader.

Series of events:

I pulled the card
I handed it to my friend
Upper Deck wanted a picture
My friend hands it back to me
I smile for the picture
The card goes directly into a magnetic

LOL..

I'm curious what you all think the MJ Retro Masterpiece 1/1 would go for? So far my best guesses are "a lot" and "more than I could afford."
