2014 Topps update clearance bin question?

Saw a few packs, what I would call “double cello”packs (not a hanger box) of 2014 Topps update in retail today? Passed on them but wondered if these are original packs or somehow re-packaged items that Topps does for some reason. Clearance packs so the cost wasn’t that high but I may swing back in the morn if they are just “old packs that never sold” to try to get Mookie?

Any experience or thoughts on this?

I doubt they’re repacks...odds are the cards are in bad shape though. I’d buy them all anyway.

I’ll say Midwest, yes I grabbed a 2019 S2 hanger and illusions basketball but left the others. Also saw old packs of stadium club and Topps heritage. They were new to clearance bin too.

That's how the hanger (fat) packs use to be. I know for a fact that 2015 Topps were the double since I own some S2 & U. I am not certain when it changed. Man, I would have probably fainted to actually see 2014 U in the wild. I mean I was scooping every 4 card pack that were available in the repacks at Dunham Sports. But hanger packs, woah!

Truth. If I saw a year I didn’t know I used to look up the checklist or check ebay to get an indication if they were in demand. No need to even do that. Just take them!

After buying it I also would have driven to every Walmart within a 50 mile radius looking for more.

I found half a box of 2013 Update at an indoor flea market about a year ago-marked at $3/pack. A buddy and I split them then I went home and locked myself in a quiet room with high end intoxicants and opened slowly and carefully like they were mid 50s packs. No Yelich or Arenado for me, buddy got a Nolan. But I sure was excited.

Old heritage and Update for clearance? And you didn't buy?

Damn....I remember buying up 2018 Heritage high number clearance fat packs, didn't let those go.

Let me guess, they probably had 2017 football on clearance too that you passed on.

Yeah I’m just weird like that, once had a chance to buy a full cello pack mosaic basketball (20 packs probably) and I only took 10... somewhat regret that one, but it’s purely for opening and not selling. Just economics for me.

Went back this morning, no update to be found, I’m sure the person was upset the illusions was gone... let my son open the 2019 S2 and got literally nothing, told him it was his to decide, worth $45 currently or open it to try and get El Niño... lesson probably not learned... yet
