Default Marcell Ozuna close to triple crown

Buddy just texted me Ozuna almost triple crown. Know shortened season, but still good. Will be interesting to see what he does in the playoffs.

All I can think about when someone brings up Ozuna is his attempt to make an amazing homerun robbing catch on a routine fly ball. Just watched and can't stop laughing. Just so bad.

He won’t win the highest BA. Soto is locked in and is 11 pts up on him

He has a shot at least but I doubt the Nats give Soto enough ABs to lose the batting title or Ozuna will not have a big enough game. Either way at least the Nationals are out so win for me at least.

He said Ozuna was close to the triple crown. He's tied for first in HR, 1st in RBI, and 3rd in BA. So yeah, he IS close to it. He won't get it, obviously, but I'd call leading 2 of the 3 triple crown categories and being 3rd in the last is close, wouldn't you?

It's not quite over yet. If Ozuna goes 4 for 4 today, his BA will be .346, same as Soto. So if Soto does no better than 1 for 3, Ozuna would win the batting title

Soto essentially stays at .346 if he does 1 for 3, which forces Ozuna to go 4 for 4 or better. If Soto goes 0 for 3, his BA is .339, 0 for 4 and it's .337. In either case, Ozuna could pass him with a 3 for 3 or 3 for 4 day

Of course, Freddie Freeman is also ahead of Ozuna. Would be ironic if the only thing stopping Ozuna from getting the triple crown is his own teammate!

Its like one of those NFL teams win Week 16 that need to win, 2 other teams to win and 2 others to lose to get into the playoffs.

Yeah I don’t know. Tom Paciorek was a real underrated hitter in his day.

Soto 1 for 1 with a walk (currently .351) and Ozuna 1 for 2 (.336) probably ends the triple crown chase. Both games still in the middle innings though, so you never know

Yes main point was .335 17 hrs and 55 rbis in ~60 games is pretty good.

Soto out of the game and will officially end the season at .351

Ozuna now 1 for 3 and at .335

It's over unless there's a LOT of extra innings. 2 more hits would only bring Ozuna up to .341

Yup. Will see if Ozuna finishes leading NL in HRs and RBIs.

A stat line that might not get him the MVP of his own team even. Braves have a nice offense. Hopefully their pitching will be enough to go deep.

He led the team in HR and RBI and second in AVG by .002. Freddie had a good season but Ozuna's was better.

If you go deeper then just HR AVG RBIs you'll see Freeman's a little better. Not to mention Freeman is a Top Defensive 1st Baseman and Ozuna is basically a DH this year.

Juan Soto
Freddie Freeman
Mookie Betts

Those three definitive I would take over Abreu's season.

The fact you mention RBI's and "clutch hits" just seems to me it would be pointless arguing with you though.
