Default Do you still have an LCS?

Is there one still open in your area and how often do you go?

How are your experiences there with pricing/owner/singles etc.

I am about to pay my LCS a visit today after about a 6 month hiatus (been focused on singles lately, their prices are a little high)

I have three that I frequent. One is about three miles away. I go 2-3 times a week; way too often.

There are a few others in the area I haven’t been to.

The only one in town is about 2min away from me. I’m in there 2-3 times a week. He even let’s me keep a tab. Prices can be a little higher on wax, but it’s not bad all things considered. He tends to run out of stock quickly, though. Very nice guy, glad he’s still in business. Has a lot of singles.

The next closest is about 30min away. No singles, just wax. I’ll stop in there occasionally if my local guy doesn’t get something in, or I’m passing through. Prices are good.

The other one is my favorite, but he’s about 1hr away. I make a trip about once a month, probably more coming up this season. Tons of wax, lower prices, great with trades, just a good guy.

I have two and they are fairly close to one another. I go to both every once in awhile. One is a little high and the other is usually pretty close to online prices. I enjoy going to both.

I actually posted a thread about this, one opened up in my dinky little hometown a few months ago, literally a one-block walk from my house. I like the guy, he's a little odd but so what ya know? He likes trading, but his main passion is vintage so I don't have a ton I can trade him. I did have a 1975 Hank Aaron he needed that I traded in part for some of his 89-90 Fleer packs though, so that was nice.

Prices on singles are honestly pretty steep. He isn't a Panini dealer or anything so any wax he gets he marks up a little from ebay but nothing terrible. Just doesn't have a lot of basketball. Baseball and football mainly.

Amazingly there are 2 card shops less than 5 miles from my new place of employment in Dayton, OH. One looks great and has great reviews but I went in and they were pretty unhelpful and he said "no I don't keep that stuff anymore" when I asked about 90s basketball...as I was sitting there looking at an entire box labeled "PSA pre-2000 basketball" that he was too lazy to get out apparently.

The other one was super dingy and looked awful and was almost all just singles with a smattering of random baseball wax but the guy knew where everything was and pulled out several boxes of 90s bball to sift through and I ended up spending $90 in there

Yes, about 4-5 mile away.

It's a huge store but sadly it's about 80% man cave decorative stuff. The singles are pricey as is the wax so I mostly use them only for supplies.

Closest one is about 1 hr 20 minutes the other 1 hr 45. They're both out of the way from my normal shopping. I would only go if im in that area which is almost never. I stick to buying online 99.9% because of that. Now if they were local like 15-30 minutes away i would go much more frequently. I wish i new a dealer that could hook me up with some pre sale wax. That's pretty much all i buy.

It's all relative... :-) A shop 15 miles away in Chicago could be an hour and a half drive

Yes, about 15 min away. I'm lucky that they have good prices on wax as well

Same LCS (Eddie's Sports Treasures) in Knoxville as when I was a little kid. Just about 5 minutes away from my house.

We've got an incredible LCS on the north side of Indy.......Baseball Card Exchange. Owner is an amazing guy. I don't get there as much as I'd like to, but it's always a great place to hang out.

Mike and Frank at Jax Sports Cards-about 10 minutes away. I have been busy lately(I take care of my dad and brother) so I have not been by as much as I used to. I do text them once or twice a week to say hello and I get in on case breaks. Good guys-Mike sets up at the National, Chantilly and Tri Star shows so some of you might know him.

I have 5 shops ranging between 5-30 minutes away. One just opened up about 2-3 weeks ago and it’s really nice and they have vintage, new, high end, low end. I’ve only been once but seemed like great guys and can’t wait to spend some more time in there. The one that’s closest to my house, I go in every couple of weeks, sometimes just to talk cards and thunder basketball (sensitive subject lately). The owner is amazing. She has been giving my son who is 11 now, thunder tickets for the last several years and always puts aside Andre roberson cards and ou basketball players cards for him.

I have been going to the same LCS for 25+ years. Its about 5 minutes from me and I mainly buy supplies and every once in a while some packs and singles. He is a bit pricey on packs/boxes but fair with supplies.

I used to go once a week when I was busting wax. They used to be over next to littons. When I was growing up we had a LCS in halls next to the Kroger’s and they moved to another location in halls in the late 90s but closed down in the mid 2000s.

I'll second this. Love hanging out and watching people open products.

I have one in my town, however I stopped going in there when they didn't have much for product in stock. When I inquired, they said can order it for me. Well, I can do the same thing and save myself money. While I understand that it may be impossible for a mid-sized town store to have product in stock, they are losing out on business by not having newer product in stock for those impulse, don't want to wait for it to be shipped purchases. Haven't visited the shop since.

There is one left that serves our entire hour area in all directions. It's overpriced from the boxes to the singles. But if you want to buy in person, it's the only way.

the closest one to me is about 30 minutes away. There are about 2-3 about an hour away.

I still miss the LCS in my hometown I grew up, when I went back home last month I visited there and he had a lot of boxes from the junk wax era but still had some packs. He barely has any panini packs. I did buy a Series 1 box of 93-94 Ultra for 50 bucks. Was hoping for the MJ scoring king, got the Nique one instead. It was still a fun break for me though.

Went to my LCS yesterday. Owner was super nice as usual but had little to no basketball . Got a couple 92 stadium club packs and one single optic pack. Managed to pull an auto out of the optic though

Just bought a couple cards off them on eBay and they gave me 5% off, great customer service

I have one about 10 minutes away. Great for supplies. But they’ve been iced out on new basketball products. They told me they just can’t get most of it. Must be a demand thing. Plenty of baseball and some football.
