Default eBay Case Issue

So I bought a card online end of June, tracking says arrive by July 3rd. Never arrived, never even moved actually. Opened a case, seller said they are going to open a case with the USPS (He opened it in my town, not his which was weird).

Any who, 2 weeks later nothing except for today eBay automatically closes the case and states I will not be getting a refund even though the card has not moved once.

I sent a follow up to appeal, but I dont get how they automatically close it and say "oh well"

Is there anything else I can do? Am I screwed here?

what do you mean by 'didn't move'

as for the case, from my understanding, it gets opened at the last known location of the item, I don't think you specify what zipcode you have an issue with, it asks where you sent it from and where you sent it to...if it has a delivered scan, and that's where you are screwed, you need to contact your local office and find out where it was scanned delivered...

recently in my office we had a package mis-delivered...about a week later a guy came in with one of those back yard tent/canopy things and said 'I didn't order this' didn't have any of the original packaging to him or anything...well it turns out, the rightful owner had opened a case, management saw that the scan was made in the wrong location, and sent the guy a letter saying that keeping someone elses mail, even if misdelivered is illegal, and that's why it came back with no packing stuff...

Seller did.

I opened a case hoping the usps case would yield us a result. Seller responded today. eBay escalated it and immediately closed it in his favor.

Opening cases on USPS is weird. It seems like it always opens in the recipient's location. I had a package accidentally get a delivery scan at my local blue box upon pickup, but the case response came from the destination in Illinois.

Another time I had a USPS employee tell me to open a case using the origin as both addresses so it would force that end to look. Problem of course is as a buyer you don't know the shipper's address.

Same response to the last 20 ebay complaint posts:
"Either call them and escalate to a higher manager or message them on facebook's Ebay for Business page."

eBay has a Facebook page that they respond to?

Wait. So, the label added never showed delivered, the seller opened a case and the seller won???

Am I missing something because I'm not sure how that is possible to not get an item and have Ebay close it out in the sellers favor and have a seller open the case.

If that is the case, I'd be on the phone with Ebay and ask why they close out an undelivered item in the seller's favor.

The seller opening a case with USPS isn't odd. I've done it before. Seems every time I open one the package starts moving in a few days. Coincidence or luck? Possible, but takes 2 minutes and doesn't hurt anything.


Edit : Reread your message. Is what happened you opened a case, seller added info, you didn't respond and then seller asked Ebay to step in after a time? If that is the case, not sure what Ebay does. They should have responded in your favor I'd think, but who knows. Definitely call them.

Yes its usually better than calling them. Many times the reps actually side with the seller. I get far better results through it than calling. I think it helps that you can send actual links to stuff.

Was literally within 20 minutes that it got escalated to eBay then closed.

I messaged them on Facebook, and forgot to add that the seller tried to have us make the deal offline too.

Reaching out to them on Facebook was the way to go, they immediately ruled in my favor.

And what do you know, the seller amazingly finds the card right after the case closes! Then offers it to me!
