I really need to start selling/disposing of the stuff I collected the last few months and have no interest in posting stuff myself on Ebay.
I have around 500 base of Heritage and Gypsy Queen. Is it worth sending that over to COMC? I know they charge a per card fee so obviously I would go with the cheaper longer route to get it processed. I could also just take it to the local card shop, but what would even be a reasonable price for something like that? Sorry I know this is probably basic stuff, but I'm totally lost on the selling side. |

Love COMC. I still can't believe some of the cards I've bought on there from just selling random stuff I had lying around. Probably want to stick to cards that sell for at least $1+ but I'm a huge fan.

NOT a good place for base cards. You would do much better to lot those out on ebay. Great place for dollar plus stuff though.

I am planning on organizing my first shipment to COMC of the good cards I have. I'll skip sending the junk. |

Wife is going to shiv me if I don't start selling some of this stuff off. Think I'll try moving some smaller cards on eBay and at least see how that goes. I have a decent pile that I'll probably list on comc as well.
Am I understanding it right that if I don't mail the min card amount they charge you 10 bucks? I saw that 2019 cards will stop being current year the end of August so I want to get them out before that for sure. |

Hmm maybe I'll just baby myself into eBay then. Didn't realize they were that backlogged. To be expected I guess

Yeah currently they are working on uploading current year submissions that had a due date of early June. So that puts them about a month and a half behind. If you send yours in and then they are given a date three weeks out from when they accept it you’re already into mid to late August depending on how quick you send it and how quick they accept it. If they’re more caught up by then you might be ok but with the deadline of 8/31/20 for current year 2019 stuff they may get another backlog. It’s hit or miss with them. They used to be great but have really fallen off and used Covid as an excuse for already super delayed batches and to turn off their phones for customer support.

You should read or post on this forum as well. https://www.blowoutforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=44 They address COMC and eBay selling tips over there. When I first started with COMC in 2012, people were saying most buyers are looking for current year and that sells the fastest. Fortunately, I had Trouts and Harpers to help fund the processing of my other base cards so I was sending in my extra 2011 and 2012 cards that year. I was also under the impression that they were marketing themselves as an offsite storage facility as well as being a consignment service. It sounds like you are just sending in 2019 cards before the current-year deadline so I don't know if they'll sell fast or not. Since then, I usually submit a few cards that should sell really fast along with cards I want to keep offsite and just junk. I recently sent some Jeter and Griffey rookies directly to COMC Auctions on eBay to have some cash flexibility within the site. However, given the current processing services available, I have been sending in mostly 2020 items and all my extra 2019 cards before that August deadline. I, too, don't have the time or desire to sell through eBay so I find COMC more convenient and am willing to pay for that convenience. And, they have been keeping track of all my transactions as well since I started. My go-to shipping box is the side-loading USPS Regional Rate Box B (have to order online). I can get 5 300-count and 2-400 count boxes in there. From where I am located, the shipping cost is $11.53. Make sure you read their packing tips. There have been complaints of damaged cards during the processing stage so consider your card placement and packing carefully. Here are my 2019 selling stats. Baseball cards sold go as far back as 2011. I didn't send in any cards last year. Price range / Cards Sold / COMC Credits $0.75 or less / 591 / $316.50 Over $0.75 to $10 / 237 / $1,222.90 Over $10 / 36 / $1,354.70 Grand Total / 864 / $2,894.09 I used what I made last year to fund submissions for this year and to get a 2011 Update Gold PSA 9 Mike Trout. I am pretty much playing the long game and consider this a hobby that I do off and on. I have submitted over 41,000 cards since when I started and need three more sales to reach 10,000 cards sold. I am kind of disappointed in the eBay integration. Only about 12% of my cards that I have for sale on COMC are currently showing on eBay. If you do get something to show up on eBay, you have to consider whether you want to be competitive on eBay or not, or just target internal COMC buyers. I have a Topps Project 2020 card listed for $25 on COMC; but it shows up as $30.15 on eBay plus $4.99 Shipping. That particular card goes for $19.95 plus free shipping. I would have to price my card at $11.79 to match that eBay price. I think the formula is (Your COMC asking price + COMC S&H)x1.15 + $0.25 + $4.99 eBay Shipping. More expensive cards use a different formula. I could price it at $19.95 within COMC, but only COMC members would see that price. Guest and eBay customers would see the price at $24.35 before sales tax and shipping. When you do get your account set up, be sure to include your account in your profile and check out these other boards/threads. https://www.blowoutforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=65 https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=37221 https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=932394 Also, don't forget that if you have any cards priced above $.75 after being on the site for three months, you'll pay a penny storage fee per card per month. |

Thanks for the info. I ripped a ton of blasters the last few months and I'm trying to recoup some money and clear out space. So selling quick isn't a big deal to me at all.
That said I'm going to try a few eBay transactions and see how it goes. I went and bought some basic supplies last night and will probably post a small batch today. I'm a weird person who over thinks everything to death when it's not really a big deal. |

I personally have 1100 of 1300 listings on eBay, not sure what I’m doing to get such a high percentage but I don’t complain, close to 1/3 of my sales come from eBay sales. |

How can you see which of your items are cross posted on eBay?

Search eBay for one of your rare cards that you have a monopoly on, get the three digit code from the auction where you select the item to buy, then search that three digit code in eBay sports card categories.

Ask yourself honestly if there is any actual demand for the cards you are trying to get rid of?
Are they parallels that people might want? Are they from an insert set people might be trying to complete? Are they SP's? Etc..... The truth is that if you just have base that there is little to no demand for, you may just be better off donating the cards to a charity like your local Boys & Girls Club. Or see if there are any neighborhood kids who might want them. That's what I do with all my commons.... |
