Default Playmakers Theatre questions

I know there's been other threads on these but the info isn't exact in them. I should preface this by saying I already fired off an email to PWCC in the heat of the moment asking for a return but I might be wrong about why.

I thought all pack pulled Playmakers Theatre cards were embossed but some of these old threads say that's not the case and some weren't. Was under the impression that all unembossed cards were backdoored.

I just got this card in from their March auction:

I remember a guy pulling one out of a pack on here and posting it: https://www.blowoutforums.com/showth...ght=1998+fleer

Doesn't look embossed to me either. So was it just some were embossed and some weren't?

Edit: I found the smoking gun https://www.pwccmarketplace.com/items/1912279

I was looking at this card recently for someone and the PSA 8 25/100 in the OP is the example I used of fake serial numbering. I didn’t see that it had made its way into a PSA slab though. It used to be in a BGS slab.

All pack inserted playmaker theatre should be embossed.
Both those 25/100 are not embossed? Strange

Second one looks embossed - especially above Kobe's head.

Over the past 10 years I have heard of non embossed numbered versions. But I have always been dubious.

I have owned a numbered embossed Tim Duncan (legit) and a non embossed non embossed Kevin Garnett (obviously backdoored)

I would never pay good money for the non embossed numbered versions even though many say they are legit.

Looks like you found your evidence anyway

When you zoom in om the legit version you can see the numbering is thicker.

Solid scam.

Embossed and numbered is the only way for the number 1 90s insert (IMO)

Not that I'm an expert, but I would be highly suspect about all the copies shared above.

I know I pack pulled 07/100 Kobe Bryant as kid, and it was for-sure embossed. You should visibly see the concave embossing on the back of the card around Kobe's head. I sold this card about 10 years ago, but I think I still have an old embarrassing scan to visually prove my point, if it hasn't already been documented before.

To further my claim, I was pretty sentimental about the pull when I was a kid. I still have the open pack which I pulled the card from.

The 2nd card looks embossed to me. The top part of the card shows it.

I would share with the feds discretely. See what PWCC does after the return... do they relist? Do they still allow submissions by whoever consigned the item? Paper trail time.

All pack pulled playmaker theatre cards in the basketball fleer product were embossed. Bankruptcy cards that flooded the market before and after they went under were not embossed and as nicely detailed. Your original source that told you otherwise misinformed you. Second card posted is the embossed one and the authentic serial numbered copy. Hope this helps.

found pretty decent quality scans that I did of my previously owned and pack pulled 007/100

you can see the embossing "ghosting" on the back, which really isn't evident on any of the cards featured in the PSA slabs nor the guy claiming he pulled one last year.

the 0's in the /100 look suspect on OP's card too. Hope your return goes smoothly.

neither of the 2 in the op look embossed.

the links that Bosco posted looks legit.

you can easily make out the halo effect around the player as well as the obvious ripple above the word playmakers.

likewise on this https://www.ebay.com/itm/174317841941

unembossed no serial - https://www.ebay.com/itm/323388297120 , the 'base' card as it were.

what i said was neither looked embossed. and those pics dont.

relax with the 'wrong again' soapbox.

i mean the fact you gotta post angled pics to show the embossing kinda proves my point, right?
