Default Modern player card question

What are the top 3 sought after cards of modern rookies based on value? I find it varies by sports. I did a search and couldn’t find anything. Appreciate the insight.

What do you mean by modern? For football most of the time it will be Topps Chrome, currently Prizm would be the top as Topps Chrome is no longer being manufactured. Occasionally SP Authentic may be the most desired card, Contenders would probably be the most sought after base auto product.

Modern as in the last 5 years. Maybe recent would’ve been the better word to use.

Even above NT? So National treasures isn’t the ‘one’?

For base Prizm would be choice and the most likely registry card. If you're going by value then the NT RPA would be top.

Youre old dude.

And Topps chrome has never been the go to RC for football since 1997.

PSA Registry would disagree. In fact the Future HOF Registry is almost exclusively Chrome from 2001-2012.

Yeah, no. Chrome was the main base RC for a solid 19 years. It’s the most desirable rookie card (base rookie card. Non-parallel/non-autograph) since it’s been around. Peyton Manning’s most desirable rookie is the Topps Chrome, same with Brees, Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers, Larry Fitzgerald, and any player from 1996-2015 for that matter. From 2012-present silver Prizm’s have definitely risen in popularity and are highly desirable. Especially from 2016-present because that’s the first year Topps chrome ended.

Lol. That’s because PSA registry doesn’t include autograph cards for the HOF RC registry. In football, the autograph rookie card has been king since 1999, and the 1998 SPA Manning was always and will always be more desirable and valuable than the Topps Chrome.

So you feel the answer to the question was,” if you take out all of the more desirable and more valuable cards from the equation, the best of the low end is Topps Chrome”?
1996 - the SP set and the Bowmans Best sets were the most popular. The low popularity of the football and baseball chrome is why basketball was retail only. Which ironically started the chrome craze a year later.
1997 - Jake Plummer Topps Chrome was the best rc at the time. History has shown the SPA set is now.
1998 - SPA /2000 RCs best
1999 - playoff contenders
2000 SPA /1350. History has shown Contenders strongest
2001-2004 SPA and Contenders
2005- 2009 SPA exquisite Contenders NT
2010- present NT. Contenders

In all my collecting years, I have NEVER heard anyone say anyone’s best rookie card is a Topps Chrome card outside of late 90s basketball

I think you guys are talking about two different things because the OP's original question was vague. Base registry cards are all going to be "sought after". If he's talking about value then NT is going to be the most expensive. If he's talking about what cards people are going to "need" it will be Prizm/Chrome registry cards. If he's talking about autographed RC cards or base RC cards it makes a difference as well. No need to argue over a poorly phrased question.

I don’t get the Topps Chrome thing. What’s Moss’ most desired card? Not Topps Chrome. The Topps Chrome love feels like a spillover from baseball. I collect the most rare, best possible base card, either auto’d or not. Brand legacy matters but I don’t see Topps Chrome as the best card by any stretch.

My bad, I thought OP was talking about base rookie cards (not numbered, not autographed, just the plain old base rookie card. In that case TC is the most desired rookie card. Obviously not the most valuable.
