Default Printing Error

I found this card this summer and thought it was pretty neat and sent it in just see how they would grade it.

Did you confirm that this isn't marker? It could be some problem with the magenta plate, but it seems more likely to be a kid coloring.

Weird. Looks like the KKK variation.

Wouldn't PSA experts know if it was an error?

I looked at it pretty close and it sure appears to be a part of the printing process and not a marker to me, I thought I would send it in just see if they would grade it.

Amazing card. Great choice on going no qualifiers on the sub. Surprised PSA adhered to your request and didn't give it the 5pd. The fact it's a straight 3 rocks. Definitely a print defect vs kid with a marker. White outline of the Nationals hat along with perfectly straight lines are the giveaway. PSA probably didn't notice is definitely joke of the day! Well played sir & great card OP!

It's a printing flaw caused by poor ink/water balance, most likely when the press was restarted after being stopped. The first few sheets during startup will usually have scumming issues and should have been flagged as waste by the pressman.
