I'll give you 19.96 for all 4 of them.

It’s definitely not his true RC but still great hit anyway

US250 is the TRUE RC … all other base set Acuna's are not the TRUE RC by definition or value (e.g. "Rookie Debut", "Future Is Bright", etc.)

Why isn't it his true RC?

Flagship Topps
Not SP, variation, or insert

The Acuna cards in series 2 have this disclaimer on cardboard connection: *Acuna and Torres are short-printed rookie cards that use same numbers as base cards for different players.*

That pretty much means the true RC for those 2 players are their cards from Update Series.

Unless everyone wants to go way back and call these ones XRC since it is from update. lol

I am assuming he is referencing the SP in 2018 Topps Series 2. Those aren't "true" RC because they are short print variations, not base cards on the checklist.

Can someone please explain to me the difference in the Ronald Acuna Topps Series 2, and the Topps Update? Other than the RC logo in the opposite side? Why did Topps use the same exact pic?

I just saw on Ebay, the owner of the 2018 Topps Update US250 Magenta Printing Plate 1/1 Ronald Acuna Jr just came out and posted it for $29,999.00 (no BIN) … thoughts?

Won't get close to that. Printing plates don't command much of a premium compared to other 1/1s.

Great pull btw!

Series 2 was a SP. Update was the first mass produced flagship card. The pictures are different.

I'd place the plates at a value of about 2.5K-3K right now were it to be auctioned off. They usually sell for a bit less than Blacks

I'm not a fan of plates either but I don't get the "there are four of them" argument. That's like saying that an orange is the same as a refractor just because they are exactly the same except for the color. I personally don't attach more value to cards based on color or numbering but most of the hobby does. When I was player supercollecting and I had a yellow plate, I didn't disregard the magenta just because I already had the yellow, I wanted both because they were different.

Never understood this logic. Do you consider the superfractor a 1/1 or is it just the same as the base card. Or what about a red out of /5 is that the same as a base card? No? Because they are different colors? Makes no sense. The only true 1/1's are the plates and the supers. Blank backs sure arent. Topps sells only 1 but they keep multiples of each blank back in NY.

Now value wise, its a different story.

That makes no sense at all.

It would be like making 4 supers 1/1 with different colors. And let’s not forget how certain colors sell differently. Light colored plates usually sell less than say black.

This guy owns the Update card so he is pushing for it. That is the difference. lol.

Fact remains the Bat Down came out first. Regardless of production levels etc. It was first, it has the RC stamp, and it was also pack pulled. They also didnt print a billion of them.

Update … I ended up selling/trading it. A cash/trade of 2K with a true collector of just rare/high-end RCs of sports superstars. I feel good moving it to someone that collects like that.

BTW … in the trade I still pocketed an Acuna 2018 rookie year printing plate … part of the trade was a 2018 Topps Chrome RD Acuna 1/1 plate.
