Yeah, apparently it was intended to be a 13 episode first season, and instead the production was given abrupt instructions to retool the tenth episode to wrap up the storyline, which, of course, does not bode well for the series continuing beyond those ten episodes. The word is the money guys weren't happy with what they were seeing. I wonder what the source material for this series was. Regardless, I'm a huge fan of the original 70's comic series and the 1980's comic series that eventually spawned the DC Vertigo line, so I'll be watching whatever they come up with, for sure.

They were supposed to get a grant from North Carolina to film there but it didn't come through.

Taxes spelled it's doom, but really, Swamp Thing is a tough sell. It's just too weird. Outside of Alan Moore's stellar books, he was never a popular character and, outside of his connection to the Justice League Dark universe doesn't have much crossover appeal, so I'm not surprised they pulled the plug.

Read that NC agreed to 40 million in tax breaks, or half the 80 mil budget. They then cut that down to 13 million, at which point Warner Bros stopped production with 10/13 episodes made.

They shouldn’t have lied to get a studio filming there.

First episode was pretty good, too.
The fella they had as Alec Holland did a great job.
Will certainly watch the rest. I imagine Alan Moore's classic reconfiguration of the Swamp Thing mythos began in "Saga of the Swamp Thing" #21 will play a part in the storyline based on the presence of the what looked like the Floronic Man in the brief cuts from the "later this season" trailer shown after the first episode.

It does suck balls that it's cancelled as I really enjoyed the first episode. Do what I'm doing and read the original Wein/Wrightson series on DC Universe. It is EPIC (art and story)!

Second episode (1st real appearance of the Swamp Thing on the show) was pretty good, too. There was a teaser for Blue Devil, too. Not sure if that'll be going forward, but if so, it looks like he's to be played by Ian Zeiring of "Sharknado" and "Beverly Hills 90210".

Taxes appear not to be the issue but WB wanting to roll DC into the new WB subscription service and Swamp Thing does not fit

I hope people didn't go crazy speculating on Flouronic Man or whatever

If true, this is ridiculous. We should riot! Such a stupid reason

Third episode has aired, and pretty good still. Shame to see all that work go for naught. The Swamp Thing suit looks great! We still might get a "Blue Devil" series out of this. They advanced that a little more.
