Default Black Friday 2020

So............. it's coming to that time of the year. Starting to look around at potential offerings. (Edited and removed link as it was not current)

Look forward to it every year, but rarely ever pick anything up. Will be interested to see what everyone offers. I did pick up a Panini Country retail case for $100 from BO last year and very much enjoyed hit, hit some nice autos. Think the other thing Ingot was the Marvel Civil War case of Walmart packs, being a relic fan that was really cool, and netted a lot for the price.

Honestly not even sure what I'm looking for. Digimon has a new TCG launching on BF that I'm really pumped for, so I may just be spending money on that, but if I see any fun cheap boxes may decide to grab something.

That Beckett post is from 2012, so I wouldn't read much into it.

Not sure what to expect this year. Last year there weren't a lot of great deals, but a few were amazing (all of the 2017 football retail products). With the way wax prices have gone up so much this year compared to previous years, I am not expecting too many good sales. I'll look of course and hope to find some cool non-sports, but I'm not holding my breath (and certainly not waking up early in the morning waiting around for new deals to post).

Doh. Wishful thinking on my part.

It will be interesting as BF this year will most likely be mostly online due to COVID 19. Not sure how the big box stores will do.

I went pretty big last year on Walking Dead cases, I don't think I'll pick up much at all this year. Not a whole lot in stick I want either.

The 10% off sitewide sale going on today is not too bad. Most products seem to have prices jacked up but I think there some reasonable prices out there. I've been wanting to open another case of ST Discovery Season 1, so $517 with the sale is a good deal. Maybe it will be $499 on BF but I don't mind.

For the products that stayed the same price and are on the higher end, the 10% is a great deal. For some products this will be better than Black Friday deals.
I fear there won't be much non-sports for Black Friday, at least not anything I feel is good.
I used the coupon to pre-order a case of Star Wars Masterwork. Getting $134 off made the case the price of the product worth it.

So, any thoughts what BF this year will bring? I have been looking at BO's non sports seeing what may be reduced. Nothing really stands out other than the usual Elvis, Panini Country Music and Super Break Pieces of the Past.

cases and cases of Star Wars, I hope. I've been skipping because I don't think they're worth what they're asking, but I still love to bust packs if they're cheap enough

Last year was the first year I bought nothing
I thought all the offerings were mediocre at best
Hopefully this year is better
At least for me

So what price point are you hoping for? I remember the days of $35/box per case. Don't know if I am delusional or not.

I'm honestly not expecting much in the way of actual deals. More like boxes and cases at prices that would be considered normal before COVID drove up pricing.

There seem to be unlimited amounts of the Walking Dead still in stock so those will be cheap, and probably a $500 case of Star Wars and whatever Rittenhouse product they have the most of. And maybe they will cut Game of Thrones cases a little from ridiculously overpriced to somewhat overpriced.

The card market is through the roof, there will be NO DEALS this year.

Black friday will be stuff from years ago that isn't moving like Yo Gabba Gabba boxes and Elvis.

The 'deals' will be $250 boxes marked up to $300 and put on Black Friday "sale" to $250.

Seriously, there is no reason to have a big sale, all this stuff moves at high prices already. And I hope no one plays the "well its good business to do it for your customers" card...there are already more customers than product available so that means nothing.

$500/case for RoS s1, or Journey TRoS most probably in my opinion. It's a modest cut from where they sell now.

Chrome RvFO would be nice at that price point, but I don't think it's had enough time in the market to drop yet. Any of the B&W series at $500/case would be nice.

This is the truth, there are far more customers than there is product currently, at least for smaller shops like me.

Any in demand products are not going to be had for Black Friday pricing. I can see some things like last year's Game of Thrones or products like that being made available. But you aren't going to see any hot products at discount prices.

So, is the consensus that this years BF is going to be a blowout (sorry for the pun)? I always thought of BF as a way for companies to clean house of all slow selling product. Like Walking Dead, Panini (insert non sport name here) and retail.

I wouldn't expect amazing deals, but I would expect decent deals on some non-sports. Yes, demand is through the roof... for sports boxes. Are non-sports in high demand? Wouldn't know it based on the breaks posted in the box break section. And from my personal breaking, I haven't been breaking a bunch. Mostly breaking when I see a good deal, like the DC Bombshells boxes I had been breaking until the price went up.

The 10% off day a few weeks back seemed like a good sign to me. Hopefully we will get at least 10-20% off a few decent products. I just wouldn't expect it on really popular items.

Yeah, non-sports are in high demand.

Look at Marvel Anime. Supposed to be a ~$90 box, already selling for more than double that. Most Marvel print runs have been halved as Upper Deck is selling the rest on epack at MRSP or higher.

Pokemon is high. Garbage Pail is high.

All you'll see in Black Friday is some 2016 Decision and Solo boxes at best.

I say look for them to move old stuff they've been sitting on forever. Stuff that hasn't sold in years will probably find a buyer this year.

While I agree actual deals will be far and few between, retailers will still look to steal market share from other retailers. So legit sales will still exist, but doubtful to the levels we've seen in years past.

Judging by years gone passed, BO should be sending out it's BF promotions tomorrow (Friday). I wonder if it will be the same format as last year with deals all month long.

JtRoS is already below $500/case at the other guys' website. Maybe it'll get sweeter in November? Doubt it though. Historically $450 or so has been the absolute floor

Probably. As has been said, there isn't a ton of dead product clogging the warehouse, so a few on sale here, a few next week, is likely how it'll go

Haven't done/enjoyed BF Nonsport since ~2016/17. Props to those who have been enjoying it every year but as a sketch collector the deals nor products just haven't been there... part of it is on the companies products though lol.
