Default *****The Official 2018-19 Cleveland Cavaliers Thread*****

I know there are not many of us here with LeBron gone but at least the threads will be much quieter without all the LeBron/MJ nonsense.

What are you guys looking forward to this year? For me it's gotta be the growth of Cedi as a player and what Hood can do now that LeBron is not looming over the team.

A successful season to me would be .500 and fighting for the 8th seed. With the current talent on the roster I think they're better than Hawks, Magic, Bulls, Nets, Knicks, Hornets maybe the Pistons and Heat also.

My lineup prediction is:

Hill/Sexton/Clarkson
Hood/Clarkson/JR
Cedi/Korver/Dekker
Nance Jr./Thompson/Frye/Dekker
Love/Thompson/Zizic

Maybe Clarkson can get it together this year. That guy looked like absolute trash every game I watched of Cleveland once he was traded there. I think Hood will do well with the ball, having more opportunity to shoot. Should be interesting if Love returns to his Minny days and fills up the stat sheet.

I doubt it, he's the classic "put up hollow offensive numbers" kind of guy. He's going to get his 20-25mpg but won't really move the needle IMO.

Love is going to be an absolute statistical monster this season

The starting lineup for tomorrow's 1st preseason game will be:

Hill/Hood/Cedi/Love/Thompson.

Can't say I'm surprised that Tristan is starting but would much rather see Nance out there with the 1s

Cedi looks way better than I thought he would

With Lebron gone, I'm actually really looking forward to see what the CAVS can do without Lebron. A younger and faster tempo is what I'm hoping for! Anyways glad to see still lots of real CAVS fans left over here!!!

I think LeBron was definitely holding this team back. Everybody looked way more confident on the floor yesterday.

I know it's only preseason but I think this team is going to surprise some people.

A couple thoughts:
  • Hill should not be starting, he just doesn't have it anymore
  • Cedi looked awesome! Playing with tons of confidence and looks like he can be a focal point for this team moving forward
  • THEY FINALLY PLAYED SOME DEFENSE!

He might have been holding individual players back but he was carrying the team to places they will not see again for a long time.

It’s going to be interesting to watch how they play as the season unfolds. Love like you said above will perform well, but I don’t think Sexton is going to be that great of a player, too inconsistent but will probably have big nights. He just isn’t a very good distributor and not a great shooter but he needs the ball to perform, it’s not a great combo.

Yeah I am excited for the season. I think a lot of people will be surprised by the Cavs. I am looking forward to seeing how well Sexton does over time. There is a lot of potential with the young guys. Personally I like Tristan starting out there. Nance does well coming off the bench.

I think Nance is better off the bench too, plus if he can get his 3 pt shot someday he will be a beast!
As for TT even though I'm giving up on him, I still hope he can actually perform better now that Lebron's gone......

Well TT has been talking a bit of smack so he'll hopefully back it up.

Maybe the Cavs can push for a 6-8 seed if everything goes well for them. I think they should go after Butler, even if for only a year.

Why? From an organizational, forward thinking perspective, it makes no sense. Why give up young talent + picks to get a guy who doesn't make your team a contender and will leave after 1 season?

What game changer are you giving up?

There aint that much there.

Cavs are a 6th seed at best, probably a 10th seed at worst. I'm not seeing the risk.

The risk is giving up young assets and picks for a guy who's not winning you a title or even getting you to the finals and will leave after this season.

Cedi looks very confident so far. I'd also like it if Clarkson took way less shots because they make me cringe.

I'd also like to see Lue run the ball through him a little more cause Hill ain't gonna do much.

Sexton looks overwhelmed out there tonight. He needs to turn down the energy like 2 levels and slow his game down. He's just playing out of control.

Oh.. and the defense doesn't look horrific, finally.

They made it competitive for a little while towards the end there, I thought they might bring it within a basket or two.

Sexton needs to work on his passing and shooting, right now he looks like a worse court vision and out of control imitation of Derrick rose

Been a season ticket holder for 17 years now. So I've been through it all. I'm looking forward to:

1. Cedi's growth
2. Love Minnesota version?
3. Sexton's contribution
4. Can Hood find his rhythm?
5. Trading Korver, Hill and Smith to a contender during Trade deadline.

Hoping for a 44-38 record to score a #7 seed

Even though they lost I still think they played good today first game without LBJ.

1.There's actually passing and sharing the ball not just iso ball trying to be a hero.(Well they did end up playing iso sometimes, but overall is good!)

2.I really like the improvement from Cedi, he seems to grow a lot and the way he plays is what the Cavs will need this year!

3.Finally the DEF is getting good, not great still some mess to pick up and get used to but I'll take that comparing the DEF from LBJ era.

Lets just sit back and let the players play it out and enjoy the season~ Go Cavs!

There was a lot to like last night. They kept it within striking distance for most the game which was good.

Cedi looked awesome last night. Made some really great passes could have had 6 or 7 assists.

I don't know why Korver is still on this team, he's pretty useless out there. Trade him to a contender for a future 2nd or something so you can use his minutes for someone else.

Sexton looked pretty bad last night. Out of control, playing way too fast, and sometimes gets beat on D cause he's playing like a crazy person out there. He'll learn as the season goes on but it looks like he's going to be a project player.

13 rebounds as well. He just needs to get these new guys on the same page. He doesn't have Lebron or Kyrie to get him those good feeds anymore, and he is not good at creating his own shot.
