Default Topps Wrapper Redemption Packs

Attended the national for the first time last year and I'm going again this year. For the Topps Exclusive program where you take the boxes up to the counter for the bowman packs, can you bring in cases that you didn't buy at the national? Like could I order a case of something from GTS and bring it with me on the flight to Cleveland and bring it into the National? (Yes I am aware that they haven't announced which products yet.) So in simpler words, do the boxes/cases have to be purchased from dealers there or not?

Yes, Topps never asked me for a receipt and just took the plastic seals from the boxes before giving me my packs- pretty sure it is for whatever unopened recent Topps (Calendar Year)

Topps you do not need to buy there. Sometimes there is a limit on the number of boxes per person, so you may need to stand in the long line a few times.

Panini requires that you buy it from certain vendors for their wrapper program.

Could someone fill em in on what this is? I'm not big into baseball, but if I can get exclusive packs, I might see what I can do?

Beware just in case Topps changes the program this year, but if they did as last year, a month or two before the show they'll release the list of how many packs per particular box you have the outside wrapper removed.

There were limits to number of boxes, so you could get more packs depending on the product you bought. Here's the article from 2017 so there is no way of knowing in advance if the per box # will change or if they will add or subtract eligible boxes.

Trying to time purchases may still be tough in case he turns out to be something special, so who knows if boxes may ever be values before the show or AT the show. I believe BO will let you buy cases and they can take them to National for you to pickup. I have not heard if they'll do that again. I hate to spend extra to ship stuff up there or airline bag fees and lose the value of the extra packs.

Food for thought, here's the 2017 list to compare, and I am pretty sure it was limit 8 boxes per line trip last year. Good luck no matter what!

Oh ok, so this isn't anything that if I bought boxes now,and saved the wrappers I could exchange once I get there once the list was set.

Thank you for the info!

They've done things differently between The Nat and All-Star FanFest, but for The Nat and if it's the same as last year, as long as the box of cards has the outer wrapper intact at the booth, you are good.

Previously opened boxes/packs do not count.

Good luck!

They haven't required you to buy it at a dealer at the show in the past years. That doesn't mean they won't be changing it up. Upper Deck and Panini requires you to buy it from a dealer there.

Topps has changed the format from year to year to be either a certain number of packs gets you 1 promo pack to a box gets you X promo packs.

I would wait until the official announcement about the redemption program before you start purchasing for the show.

Topps just announced that the wrapper redemptions will be from this year's Bowman design and appear to be Bowman Chrome. I also noticed that Acuna has the RC logo, which I think is a big deal. Part of the Ohtani card is covered so I can't see the RC logo on the card. Last year, the cards did not have the RC logo and I think impacted the value of Judge and Bellinger. With the RC logo, should keep the value high on the rookies especially Soto, Ohtani, Acuna, Albies and Hoskins.

I don't know if it was the lack of the RC logo or the fact that last year had a pretty large National logo on it that effected this.

I'm going to check into this because my decision to rip or hold my Allen & Ginter cases until the show depends on how they are going to run the redemption.

I’m picking up my pre ordered case of Ginter at the show just so I was covered if they did require purchase at the show.

Word from my distributor is that you will have to have a receipt showing that you bought it at the show. So bringing product in from the outside will net you nothing.

Well hopefully I am able to get what I need. I assume Blowout will help me out since that would defeat the purpose of taking delivery 2 weeks after release at the show.

Isn't this what they say every year about the redemption. Must be purchased at the show.

I have been sitting on soooo much product this will absolutely suck if we have to show receipts.

This would greatly diminish the program and lose Topps a lot of goodwill. Many of the people seeking to participate have already purchased the product from these same dealers throughout the year.

Yes, I just tweeted Topps for confirmation. I have some saved product too and would not be good to change the rules of the game now.

Last year the participating dealers put a sticker on each box, then you would go to Topps who opened the boxes and then gave out the packs.

That was Panini

Topps is known for changing things last minute. I believe last year on Friday or Saturday they drastically reduced the limit of how many packs you could get at one time. I just wish they would stick to their game plan.

That's not true. You are thinking of Panini.

It went from 8 boxes per trip through the line down to I believe 4 per trip. They also cut off the line shortly after the gates opened and started telling people past the cut off that they may or may not be sold out by the time they get to the booth.
