**2017 San Francisco Giants Season Thread: Odd Year Magic?**
It's time for the Giants to flip the script and go from winning the World Series in even years to winning in an odd year.
There have been some under the radar sort of signings for the Giants in the minors and such, some older players still trying to hang in the game and former top prospects in other systems types giving it a go for the orange and black, another interesting year is hopefully a-coming with a cast of characters. Today in spring training Madison Bumgarner had this to say about Gordon Beckham, it was chuckle-worthy to me: "He’s a good guy to have on the team. A talented player, too, except for today when he couldn’t throw the ball home or catch the ball.” |

I feel Span and Belt need to have big years in order for this to work, and I think they will. I also agree about Panik and Pence. This configuration hasn't had all the pieces healthy for a feel season yet; if they do, they will be a dangerous team. I'm looking forward to this season!

I'm curious to see how the infield shakes out with Hwang, Rollins, Hill and Kelby. You always have to worry about Panik getting injured, so having someone around for when that happens will be important. Will Hwang make the opening day roster? Do Rollins and Hill have anything left?

This may or may not be an incomplete list, but here are the Giants that are out of options as listed in an MLB Trade Rumors article, should they be sent down to the minors they would go thru waivers and another team could claim them: Hunter Strickland, George Kontos, Jarrett Parker, Gorkys Hernandez, Cory Gearrin, Conor Gillaspie.
I assume the pitchers are already considered on the roster, but this makes the outfield and infield situations all the more interesting as they consider who gets cut. |

Stoked to see what my boy Matt Moore is gonna do for you guys this year. I can see him with 200+ K's and a 3.5 era

Though not officially announced by the team NBC Sports Bay Area says the bench will be: Nick Hundley, Conor Gillaspie, Aaron Hill, Gorkys Hernandez, and Chris Marrero.
Then the other news is Matt Cain is the fifth starter, Ty Blach is going to be in the bullpen. |

First pop up out of the season: Denard Span First walk of the season: Brandon Belt First hit of the season: (single) Hunter Pence First strike out of the season: Buster Posey Inning ended with the next batter Crawford popping out. The 2017 season is a go. |
