I tried a long time ago to use one and ultimately it was junk and wasn't a fan. You really don't need an app - simply set your max and bid with like 1-2 seconds left. God speed. Auction ends at 3am EST? Well, better set those alarms LOL.

I use esnipe. Yes it has a little bit of cost to it but only if you win. Worth the small cost when you know you can't be on ebay 24/7.

In the 5+ years of using the app, it has only failed once and that was due to an ebay glitch, not from the app itself.

Yeah if I really want something I try to make sure I'm on and set max with about 5 seconds. If someone wants to overbid me or snipe then god speed

I have always used Auction Sniper; there is a small fee if you win.

This. Been using it for 10 years with zero issues. I still cannot believe some people don't using sniping programs and actually wait for an auction to end. When you figure this out, it's life changing

I’ve lost a few cards recently with those sniping apps. You can tell, because you get outbid like 30 seconds later. Which has probably helped raise some card auction prices. I’ve tried them before, but I’m not sure how much it’s worth it. Like others said, just wait till the last seconds and put in a strong bid.

is there a difference between just setting the highest price youre willing to pay on ebay and leaving it? Dont you have to do that with the sniping apps as well?

Think it through.

I want to buy a card at $300. So I set that bid on ebay. And people bid on it, get outbid by me automatically, and keep bidding, and pretty soon that card is up close to the $300. I still win it, but I've paid the full price for it.

Now, I set my snipe, and don't bid the $300 until the last second. The bid is at $150 and someone thinks they are golden, and bam, my snipe comes in and I win it for $155.

If you set your high bid right away and actually bid that, you risk people bidding you up to your amount. If you are a silent sniper, you can get it for cheaper (potentially). No bidding wars.

I sign off on this.
I have never understood for example on a 7 day auction why people will put in bids on day 1? Especially bids they know won't win. For example a card that goes for $500 and someone puts in a real low bid on day 1. And I agree with you never good to bid your max early. It's like showing your whole poker hand. There are jerks out there that will bid you way up and walk away.

Only reason to put a bid in early (like day 1) is to prevent the seller from changing their mind and taking the listing down, or to strip away a silly BIN price so it truly just becomes an auction. Then of course, wait it out.

Generally I'm just watching an item and not bidding until the last few minutes anyways. In that case is there a difference?
