Default Input on eBay's Corporate Booth. What were they there for?

I saw that eBay was there. Did anyone visit? What were they there for? Just curious if they were mingling with dealers, sellers and other consumers. Any interaction with anyone in particular?

They had a scavenger hunt which for the life of me I couldn’t find a single QR code.

I spent time there talking to some of their people and they were there to work with people who sell there on how to grow peoples stores. They had a lot of meetings with bigger sellers to talk about their accounts and with different kinds of partners. They did not bring the entire suite of kinds of people you might talk to and reach out to if you had issues. Half the booth was that stadium seating for promotional stuff and the other part was mid level staff. I thought they did well but they have a ton of competition now for people moving stuff and people are always looking for ways to sell with lower fees.

Ebay is making a big push into the live selling space to go up against whatnot.

Didn't I see they bought Goldin Auctions? I saw Kenny and some of the other eBay people on their stage screaming and throwing free stuff to the crowd Saturday afternoon.

Thanks for the feedback. I just did the virtual Open 2025 and there were some panels focused on Live Selling. I dig it.

Possibly to set up another “murder for hire”? 😂

Most people forget that the OG ebay owners were caught up in an assassination plot after continuously stalking a news reporter. Worth a google.

But seriously, you have to keep in mind that the eBay guarantee program IS basically just PSA. So the “booth” was probably a two-faceted mix of public promotion and a solid timeframe to have a private meet up’s between the powers that be to iron out kinks in the program, discuss streamlining features, vaulting kinks, future improvements, marketing etc.

I truly think the eBay guarantee program has been the vehicle of how PSA has collected and started recording the actual serial numbers & photos on older submissions when they werent keeping those crucial features. Which is worth the booth and extra time it takes to guarantee said cards with features that should have been in place and would have prevented a lot the fake slabs, trimming jobs, card swapping issues that caused hits in PSA pr and headaches to us collectors. I wasnt there, but glad to hear they were. After all, if they have a booth then its a known opportunity to go make noise if I had been royally screwed over by them. Ie if I were the guy that bought the PMG Jordan that was just a red-markered-base-card.
