‘Tis the season for firing up 2025 threads!

I feel like the live-action Lilo and Stitch will be the first remake with a chance to actually improve on the animated version.

I think I might be most excited about The Naked Gun. When I heard they were making it with Liam Neeson in the lead role, it felt like a match made in heaven.

I'm also really looking forward to Fantastic Four. When I heard the theme they were using, I just felt like they nailed the feel and look. I'm also really curious on how it ties into the overall MCU.

Can you blame Hollywood at this point? People are turning out for remakes and franchise movies more than ever.

Of course not, this is America. Make that money. Just hard to get excited for something you’ve already seen over and over.

Out of that list, these are the ones that are on my radar.

Also add in:
The Monkey
Roofman
Experiment 77
George A. Romero's Resident Evil
An American Werewolf in Rome

Doesn't mean that I'll see all of them but I'll consider it at least.

What a bunch of cruddy movies. Not a damn good one in the bunch, Are there no original ideas anymore?

That said, I will be seeing (hopefully) the last Mission: Impossible movie, since those are fantastic.

28 Years Later also looks fantastic. I know it's a sequel, but at least it looks to advance the story, other than the usual rehash Hollywood burps out, ad nauseum.

I literally see nothing there that interests me. I’ll continue to find independent and foreign films that actually show some creativity.

only one I probably would be really excited or hopeful for would be Wolf Man depending on how its shot, other than that maybe catch Nobody 2 and The Accountant 2 when they hit free stream. I'm a big Tron fan but not really sure how excited I am for Tron:Ares

There is no room in Hollywood for fresh ideas and stories.

With that said, due to ridiculously limited options....

05/23 Mission Impossible- The Final Reckoning
06/20 28 Years Later
07/25 Fantastic Four: First Steps (big maybe)
11/07 Predator: Badlands

That's about it for me.

28 Years Later is the only one I am truly excited about. With Alex Garland writing it, Danny Boyle directing it, and Cillian returning to reprise his role we should expect greatness. 28 weeks later bombed because all three were not involved so it should be ignored.

Mission Impossible has been about the only franchise worth watching. Until they jump the shark I'll continue to watch.

Marvel is a complete joke at this point so watching anything they put out is done so with extreme caution. With that said, I will only watch this one if certain reviewers lead me to believe this will be anything different than the other trash they have put out. Above all, I have always hoped for a great Fantistic Four movie but I'd bet this one ends up being as bad as everything else after End Game.

Prey (Comanche Edition) is one of my favorite films from the last 5 years. The director was young and wanted to film that in Comanche (not dubbed) but the studio would not listen which is a shame. This time the idiot studio executives might not be able to get their way.

There are a few other smaller-budget sci-fi movies I am curious about as well.

Prey is a fabulous film. Love seeing films with genuine strong female characters (damn you Critical Drinker) who make mistakes and learn from them instead of being perfect from the beginning, giving the viewer absolutely nothing to root for or care about. Amber Midthunder gives a dazzling performance. I'd love to see more of her work.

While I can agree on all the "same ol same ol"..

At least the Jurassic Park series is shifting to new characters...think of it as when Walking Dead split off into Fear that followed a different set of people but same "story"

Also..I'm more interested now in Predator series after Prey...it went back to the "roots" that made it good/popular to begin with

Here's another attempt to capture the energy of the first Superman movie with Christopher Reeve which has proven elusive with this character.
Pretty great cast, though, and DC Comics have lots of great stories to tell onscreen, the surface has barely been scratched in that regard.
Hopefully, this will kick off a new DC movie universe in grand fashion.

I like that Gunn isn't afraid to embrace the weirdness and cheesiness of superheroes. I loved how he pulled off Starro in Suicide Squad. Showing us Krypto right from the start? Ok. Let's do this.

Heck, I even appreciate giving Clark Kent a bit of the perm'd "broccoli hair" that's popular with the youth of today. Superman has always tried to awkwardly blend in with human society and that's probably exactly how he'd look in 2024.

Outside of the guy who's playing Lex Luthor I know no one else in the Superman movie. I'm not interested whatsoever and another retelling of Superman. And this coming from a guy who really enjoyed Superman Returns more than I thought I would. Didn't really care for Man of Steel I absolutely hated the Batman versus Superman movie

The fact that they chose lesser-known actors is always the right choice in terms of super hero films. You want great character actors who instantly become the character much like Christopher Reeve did as well as Chris Evans. It's almost always a mistake to cast a well-known actor into a role as it looks forced and only for name recognition.

Whether the movie is good or not (most likely the latter) the teaser did give some hope for a decent film.
