Default Spielberg/Lucas/Ford Triple Auto: Where is it?

I'm looking for the triple auto of Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Harrison Ford out of 2008 Topps Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I searched these forums and someone mentioned that it was pulled on www.hobbykings.com, which no longer exists, and that it was sold for five figures. Does anyone know who may have bought or sold this card? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Breaks my heart to think how many of these truly amazing 1/1 items are like that. In someone's sealed box they will never open. In a wet storage unit because the set didn't sell well.

OR....opened by someone with no clue, maybe a kid, that these things are real and damaged, destroyed etc. Less likely now that so much of the major hits are in the expensive sets, I guess.

I bought a card about a year ago from a guy on ebay. He lived in France and claimed he knew who had the Ind. Jones Triple Auto - said he made a very reasonable offer but the owner made it clear he would never let it go. Who knows if that's true or not but he had a pretty impressive collection of Autos

I think it'd go for more than $15k now.

Still, if I had it, I'd keep quiet about it, too. This is a trophy card.

Would have been nice to put some images on the card, of that magnitude.

It would also be better if it weren't on the KotCS stock. Not that there is a plethora of those three on a card as it is, but if it were on either of the first two films...

Same, it would definitely attract a lot of attention so I get it.

There are actually a lot of interesting 1/1s from the IJ sets. Aside from sketches, they had:

1. Masterpieces
  • 6x original foil art Adam Hughes originals
  • 9x refractor foils
  • Lucas/Spielberg/Ford triple auto
  • 360 printing plates
2. Heritage
  • Denholm Elliot cut auto
  • Pat Roach cut auto
3. KOTCS
  • Lucas/Spielberg/Ford triple auto
  • LaBeouf/Allen dual auto
I included photos of some I have seen over the years (not mine except the plate). I'm actively on the hunt for these but they come up very infrequently unfortunately.

What do you think one should do with cards that they appreciate and want to keep in their private collection? There are actual collector's out there. As for sealed boxes, that's part of what makes keeping them sealed so enjoyable and valuable ......what could be in there.

Ahh yes, I had forgotten that Masterpieces also had a triple. And I was unaware that there were Adam Hughes 1/1s. Big fan of his cover artwork.

Would make me tempted to open more Indy boxes but I only found one auto and one sketch in like 3 boxes I opened off KOTC.

Sadly I only need the dual and triple autograph to finish my master set. I was outbid at the last minute for both cards back in 2008.

Ouch, lesson learned and the reason why some collector's will get out of control and outbid each other for a rare card today. You just never know when you'll see them up for sale again. Still a great set you got there!
