ghost ****Official Houston Texans Team Discussion Thread****

I couldnt find a thread for the Texans for 2021, or a Thread not year specific, so thought I would start one.

Draft in a few days, no picks in the first 2 rounds, but sitll 8 picks total. Could hopefully round out the roster with some decent depth.

QB will be interested (lets try to keep most of the Watson Drama to the Watson thread though)

Anyone have hopes for the draft coming up? Specific guys you hope the Texans target?

Im excited, I bought Season Tickets for the Texans this year. I dont expect 13 wins or anything ccrazy, but I could still see 10 wins and a battle for the divison a possibliity.

Well Mills with their first pick and a wr with the second.

The def needs help, but I dont hate these picks.

And Brevin Jordan fell to them. I saw his name on Kiper's lists last night.

Meet your new big 3 in Houston Lol Mills/Collins/Jordan

They always take defense but very few ever produce. Offensive skill guys are welcome in a lost season upcoming anyways. Let them play a bunch of snaps for development.

They got us pegged for 32nd in the NFL ... somehow I dont see that happening at all. However on the other hand dont mind if it did as this year feels like a rebuilding year anyways thus rather have high pick next year as I dont think we traded off next years 1st rounder...

Don't see any chance at 10 wins this year. Maybe 6.

I optimistic. I think Mills will be a good QB, there offense could be above average. Mainly need the defense to step up and not be horrible. I think a focus on the running game (with 5 old dudes haha) could help keep shootouts down.

As for the Schedule-

Week 1- Jags, Rookie QB, and Im not sold on Jacksonville being good. 1-0

Week 2- Bowns Away- Browns are to inconsistant, if Mills starts I can have hope, but dont think they will win this. 1-1

Week 3- Panthers Home Thursday- I dont know what to think of Carolina, so short week, on the road giving this to the home team. 2-1

Week 4- Bills Away- Easy Lose. 2-2

Week 5- Patriots Home- NE looked bad last year. If Cam is starting, Texans W. If Mac, thena lose. Going with Cam is still in charge of a 15ppg offense here. 3-2

Week 6- Colts Away- I see this series being split. 3-3

Week 7- Arizona Away- Hoping The reunion is a good one, but Cards prevail 3-4

Week 8- Rams home- Im a HUGE Stafford Fan, the Rams are prob my pick to win the Divison, if not the NFC. 3-5

Week 9- Miami Away- I think Tua sucks. I like Miami, the def, the all around team. But Im taking Houston. 4-5

Week 10 Bye

Week 11- Titans away- Another Home/Home Split for me. I enjoy Watching enry and Tannehill, but I dont think the Titans are much better than 9-11 wins. 4-6

Week 12- Jets Home- Jets are the Jets. 5-6

Week 13- Colts Home- Home Win 6-6

Week 14- Seahawks Home- Wilson is to good. 6-7

Week 15- Jags Away- Lawrence looks better, but its still not clicking for Jacksonville all cylinders 7-7

Week 16- Chargers Home- This is a game Im stoked for. I like Herbert and beleive he will be the best of the bunch from last year. Tua might have a better record but Id still take Herbert all year long before Tua. But, Ill flip here, Chargers WIn. 7-8

Week 17- 49ers Away. Great Defense, Good Coach, Not a fan of their QBs at all. Houston Wins close. 8-8

Week 18- Titans Home- This Just sounds odd to say. Week 18. But Im taking a home split. 9-8

9-8? I assume this is with Watson at QB?

Being ranked 32nd and 1 player is not the team as a motivation for the players. I can see this as a defining win.

I would be amazed if the Texans matched last years win total with their current roster and Watson not playing.

With them trading players and adding draft picks plus the Watson situation, seems like they are doing what they can to tank. No one likes tanking especially the players who bust their butts. Will see what they look like week 1 against another bad team in the Jags. There isn’t a clear #1 pick at QB so far coming out of college but maybe one emerges.

Man this is the biggest homer take I have ever seen. Texans roster is absolutely awful, especially the defense.

Offense isn't totally awful, but at best average.

Well, i'm surprised the score is this high especially at halftime. Let's see if the Texans can keep this up.

Welp, back to reality... how many injuries have the Texans garnered this game thus far?

Anyone have Thoughts who Houston should Target in the Draft/FA?

O Line for sure, they need to protect CJ and get his confidence back, they were BAD at times.

PLUS, Maybe a WR or TE. Dell has had back to back major injuries, and Diggs had a big one and likely won't be back. Schultz is good at times, but nothing special at this point.

Definitely focus on o-line and WR (tight end is less of a need but should probably be addressed as well since schultz dropped a ton of balls this year and cade stover doesn't look crazy)

I trust Caserio to pick some good receivers in the draft since both Nico and Tank have been good but he should really look to sign some big name linemen since his picks on the line have been mostly misses (Kenyon Green specifically was a big whiff)

The Texans have needs basically all over the place.

Their RB is not young. Stroud keeps getting WR after WR hurt. TE could use an upgrade.

OL would be the play, though. That is the formula with any young QB.

You can't have enough decent DBs when you play Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, etc in playoffs either. They might do that if value is there.

You post some downright fake stuff on here. STOP. I posted you a video showing how the WRs got hurt. One ran into his own guy on a deep shot to the end zone, and one was hurt on a non contact route

Well, it's up for anyone to decide on their own.

Stroud throws a lot of balls up for grabs (college style offense), and his WRs have to make hard plays to get the circus catches. He had many of the WRs come down with them in his rook year (and many WR injuries). He had more passes picked off and broken up in his 2nd year (and again, many WR injuries).

I don't think you're seeing the big picture. Sending WRs way downfield to try for athletic grabs MANY times per game will cause stress and fatigue that will cause them to be susceptible to injuries - even if they aren't injured on the jump plays themselves. It's just like how overtraining or not rehabbing causes higher chance of injuries.

This stuff (very high WR injury rate) doesn't really happen to any other pro team/QB.
It happened to Houston/Stroud both of his seasons. Make of it what you will.

...regardless, I'm sure they'll look at drafting a WR or two in the draft this year (yet again).

No, I challenge you- find one pass on video where CJ got his NFL WR hurt. I'll save you time, you can't find it. As I mentioned, the injuries you are referring to had ZERO to do with CJ, I proved it to you with video footage, but live in your own reality of you want
