Default Bedard 5th Most Important Hockey RC Last 25 Years

According to Beckett mag.

Top 5:

1. 05-06 The Cup #179 Alex Ovechkin
2. 05-06 The Cup #180 Sid Crosby
3. 15-16 The Cup #197 Connor Mcdavid
4. 05-06 Upper Deck (YG) #201 Sid Crosby
5. 2023-24 Upper Deck #451 Connor Bedard

Unless someone asks for a specific number won't do the whole list but he is ranked above Mcdavid YG, Kane Cup, Matthews Cup etc.

Agree/Disagree? I just found it interesting giving the talk about Bedard currently but everyone and their mother wanted S2 last year. I think it may be pre-mature but his impact is undeniable, now if a prospect impacts cards like that but doesn't pan out is his RC still that important? One more rank but I did find it funny they put Rempe at 25 lol

They also listed POP reports and Mcdavid has more with just PSA (6,831) than Crosby does between PSA and BGS (BGS: 3,634 PSA: 2,499). I was surprised by that

Increased print runs probably. I know collecting other cards from the 2000s there's definitely fewer of them in existence, and all Pop counts for all players across those years and sets are significantly lower than with junk wax and mid-2010s and newer sets. There was definitely a distinct cooling off period in the 2000s, where card makers were more cautious and didn't print to the moon.

Just curious what the highest ranked FWA is? I get that The Cup is The Cup and Young Guns has longevity and recognition, but I do feel like FWAs are the sweet spot.

12. 2005-06 SP Authentic #190 Alex Ovechkin

"With his RC from The Cup limited to just 99 copies and the majority of those held up in private collections, this single has become the go-to Ovechkin target for investors as he has honed in on the goal scoring record."

Fleury's got 17, Sid's 15

I read it the same way at OP did...

There were A LOT of people searching for UD Series II last year that didn't do hockey before and probably didn't do it after... And it was all because of Bedard...

Not necessarily "important" in the sense of value, at least right now anyway...

Man, I cracked a ton of boxes between 05-07, probably had at least 10 SPA Ovechkin rookies, sold them all for like 300 each in 08.

No chance Ovechkin The Cup is a "more important" card than the Crosby.

Might be more valuable now, but Crosby was the LeBron Exquisite comparison, and still holds that importance.

The goal record has alot to do with it, it's even mentioned in Crosby's piece says it's taken a backseat due to the goal record even though it was clear fav for full decade after release.

Bergeron YG would be number 5.

I'm a big fan of the Fleury Premier RPA.
