Wonder if this offseason will put a dent in Boras' reputation. Seems like he miscalculated the market on multiple players.

Seems like questionable players (Snell, Bellinger) are making decent money but on incredibly short term deals.

They have the best rotation in baseball. They could be really really dangerous.

1. Webb is stud
2. Snell is stud
3. Kyle Harrison is/will be a stud
4. Alex Cobb low ley really good
5. Jorda Hicks sleeper to be breakout starter of the year
6. Robbie Ray coming back after all star break

so they have
1: 2021 cy young,
2. 2023 cy young
3. 2023 2nd place cy young
4. 2023 all star
5. Top LHP propsect in game
6. converted started that throws 102 mph sinkers

The Giants now have the top two vote getters in the Cy Young from last year.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up with Hicks in your rotation.

I think he’s going to be really really good. If he’s not no big deal. Ray slides in to rotation anyways and Hicks goes back to being very good reliever (like he was in TOR) that you are slightly over paying for. Best case scenario is his last spring training start

This is a good landing spot for Snell. He gets the opportunity to get paid the big bucks for one season to show he can sustain his dominance from last season, while pitching half his games in a pitcher-friendly ball park. He's got Bob Melvin as his manager again and the Giants' defense has been upgraded with the addition of Matt Chapman at 3B -- Snell had 52 groundballs hit to 3B last season.

Edit: He also has a good defensive catcher to throw to in Patrick Bailey.

I mean, Carlos Rodon had a 2.88 ERA in 2022 with the Giants and a 6.85 ERA with the Yankees last season. I think Snell made a good choice if he is concerned about how he performs.

Hal is going to sign Trevor Bauer after he destroys the Yankees lineup in the exhibition game in Mexico.

Well, he's losing in the union too as the players are now calling for the chief labor negotiator to be fired and the perception is that he is ideologically connected with Boras.

I'll definitely take the under as best rotation in baseball, but I can see top 10

This is such a great move. It should be able to solidify 4th place in the AL West.

This.....I think the days of good, but not great, players signing huge long-term deals are over, especially for pitchers.

Pretty much every long-term (i.e. 5+ years) deal signed in the past twenty years aside from Gerrit Cole's deal with the Yankees and Trout's with the Angels has turned out to be a disaster.

This is the right take. Unless you are a complete superstar, teams are not going to be handing out long-term deals for free agents. We'll continue to see young guys with little or no service time signing long-term deals, but the days of 28 year old+ free agents signing 7+ year contracts is likely over unless you are in the Judge, Ohtani, Soto, etc. category. I don't think players like Trea Turner or Bogaerts would have gotten anywhere close to the deals they got last year if they were free agents this year, and that trend will continue in the future. Boras and other agents are going to have to adjust their expectations for Tier 2 players to avoid having these situations with Snell, Chapman, Monty occur in the future.
