Default The future of sealed product!

Technology will push the hobby forward. Why open product when you can see inside of it without opening. No need to reseal, just scan and sell your boxes and packs with no hits.

The technology has always been there to do it, albeit expensive of course. Now sounds like there is an "affordable" CT scanner to buy but I am not sure if the general public can get their hands on one. I would like to think and I am probably wrong that you would need to be certified tech to be allowed to buy one.

The thing is too, what are the risks behind using something like that? Wouldn't a person be exposed to radiation? I have zero clue on all of this so a lot of speculation.

Now they can break even more product! No need to even open it.

It depends on the machine. The handheld CT scanners have been tested as being safe. It is ionization radiation, so some of these machines could be harmful over time.

Can't wait until people try to buy used medical equipment and test this out themselves. This is the modern day version of the shoe-fitting fluoroscopes from over 100 years ago. Shoe retailers used unregulated equipment with radiation exposure to show how well shoes fit.

Another reason to buy singles

If something is expensive or important enough the entire battery of modern science and engineering can and will be used to get an edge.

This is kind of a degenerate gambler's version of the Scroll Prize.

“been able to characterize holographic cards in unopened Pokémon packs. “

Key word is holographic

There is a breaker who behind closed doors has mentioned using a medical device to scan Flawless cases, apparently able to see if the case contains a logo man. Am sure there are plenty of other products that guys such as that have been doing for past however long before it leaked on people using for Pokemon packs!

A $10,000 medical advice would pay for itself to find the best cards.

Think more like $1,500 than $10,000:

He was even a Scroll Prize guy!

Do we think this will impact or crush the secondary sealed product market? If one is just a private collector of sealed wax, it would be impossible prove to concerned buyers that your wax hasn’t been scanned…

Some sealed wax over the last 2 years has seen a significant increase. I don’t think this impacts pricing in the long term.

$1500 for the unit? Sure, I'm sure some Shanzai firm in China can knock one out for you for that price, or lower.

Training and software and installation and insurance is going to be a killer though, especially since we're talking about a product that have yet to receive patent (which he can use, but raises potential lawsuits and liability claims that would likely be filed closer in time than if he waited). Also, there is already a handheld one for rent https://www.theverge.com/2023/3/18/2...s-on-interview and all of these contain radioactive material - so say hello to the Department of Energy. I think someone beat him to the punch both on the specific product and the concept - X-Rays have been used to varying degrees of success for some time

Also, not knowing is half the fun. Otherwise just buy singles, geez.

Would fluid filled inserts in the packs help deter identification by CT scan?

I have a feeling most breakers ability to “use medical devices” stops at putting on a Disney themed band aid.

I call BS.

Yes. You called BS on a breaker using a medical device to detect a logoman. I provided a video that refers to a post on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/C8oO5e-Sm1j/ where a person has a video and claims that breakers/dealers/merchants do it all the time. While he does tend to suggest in the comments that they take it to a hospital/vet to get it done, so technically you would be right that "the breaker" isn't using the equipement, the implication is that they are definitely using the technology in this way.

This will give Fanatics all the more reason to cut distribution to shops and sell direct to consumer I’m afraid

Fanatics doesn't care.

They might say they care to sell direct-to-consumer at inflated prices, but that's it.
