None of the top 4 active hobby guys - ohtani, trout, judge, or acuna has actually played in and won the World Series - obviously none have played an active roll in their team’s championship victory with their appearance in the World Series.
This is an obvious feature in hobby desirability in the NBA and the NFL. So who left is the most highly collected and most desirable active baseball card subject who has actually played in and played a major role in contributing to their team’s World Series championship? And a side question, why does it matter so much less in MLB for hobby desirability? |

Mookie Betts was the first name that came to mind.

Acuna and Soto are heavily collected right now. It doesn’t matter as much as other sports because one man can not take over the game like in basketball, or football. Sure you can hit two home runs, but if your pitcher is giving up bombs and no one is on base for you to drive in, you’re probably not winning. It’s a very team oriented sport.

Winning championships is a team accomplishment.
Breaking records and winning MVP's are individual accomplishments. I'm a player collector, not a team collector. Ohtani, Judge, Acuna and Trout are the best individual players. Simple as that. ![]()

Soto and Betts.
Also, baseball is an individual spot disguised as a team sport. So Griffey’s HR total (and other career achievements) weighs more heavily with collectors than Bernie Williams’ 4 WS rings. Last edited by MiamiMarlinsFan; 04-02-2024 at 10:06 AM. |

Imagine if Mahomes was not able to play the SB last season and Chris Oladokun took the chiefs to victory against the niners - heads would explode in the FB message boards. |
