the other card I can find with this photo is this one, but photo is shrunk down w/lots of unused space and arguably garish lettering, and feet cropped out. The ball isn't cropped out though. Also no photo on back

2008 Topps #194

Any card that was made after a player retired shouldn't be anywhere on any "best card" list.

I agree with GOAT on not loving 2008 topps. I know that's the minority opinion. I think the Topps Stars looks way nicer.

You can argue a post-playing card shouldn't be on a best card list, but I certainly think they can belong on a best aesthetics card list.

May not necessarily be the best photo but this card in person is just GORGEOUS. I love the shine on 2013 Prizm and the color match from this set just does it for me

disqualified since it's not his best photo and the card is not from his playing days

Aesthetics-wise, I don't see the case for unused space like borders if one can go borderless. I don't see the case for big lettering of any kind.

Borders bring up centering issues. The '08 image I posted for example is somewhat off-centered and that is somewhat distracting.

Borders "frame" the photo, and no one frames a picture or painting on their wall in an off-centered frame, do they? Maybe if they're postmodernistic-BS types (reference)

(Along with the '96 Stars I picked up a '81 Topps of the Doctor, centered about as well as the release can be...)
