Default Package lost in transit to EBay authentication

Hello all - wondering if anyone has experience or knows what happens in this situation:

Sold a card on eBay that required 3rd party authentication. Package appeared to be lost in transit so I refunded buyer and was in the process of filing a claim. Now suddenly the card appears on the tracking and is on its way to get authenticated. Since the sale has been refunded, does the card get returned or still go to the buyer?

TIA

I would call ebay to make sure the card comes back to you. You could also do a package intercept.

never refund a buyer except through eBay’s cases. You might be out the money unless the buyer is honest. You should call eBay and see if they can send the card back or contact the buyer to see if he will pay again.

If you did the refund because the buyer made a claim, you should be okay.

OP - I have no idea what happens. But it is curious to pose that if the card is lost it is ebays issue since THEY make you send to them and increase the risk it is lost somewhere along the way.

What to the BO Legal experts say?

We're missing some key info - did the buyer open an "item not received" case and you followed eBay's instruction to issue a refund? If not, then you would need to contact eBay and try to explain the situation, but most likely you might be out of the card and money if you did not follow eBay's instructions on handling refunds.

There have been wide-spread delays with all shipping companies due to weather, so packages being delayed for days or weeks has been common as of late, so never issue a refund for a delayed shipment unless eBay makes you.

There is no difference between this and sending anywhere else. The responsibility to get the package to the destination is 100% on the seller and their carrier, the destination being eBay authentication. Once it arrives to eBay authentication, the seller's part is done and getting the card to the buyer becomes eBay's responsibility.
