Default Show off your 98/99 Fleer Classic '61 Cards!

Did a quick search of threads and the only two dedicated to these cards were years old with photobucket photos that no longer existed, so I'm creating a new one.

I don't have any big names but have been picking them up for a year or two now when there are decent BIN prices or auctions.

Show yours off, I know there are some monsters out there! BGS 9 Jordan is on eBay now for 100K OBO if anyone has any extra spending money...

Somethin' like a cross between Teddy Aguhob and Kaboom Mystery Packs. I got that Givenchy denim flow.

Sick cards.
I busted 2 complete boxes of the product, one of each at two separate occasions, and the best card that I got is the Grant Hill Electrifying. Never hit any Classic '61.

I really like these as well, taking the already cool Vintage '61 parallel to another level with different holofoil colors depending upon the banner color behind the team name and logo.

Great looking set. While I have no contributions, don't mind me while I sit back and admire all your cards.

I had a couple of these in the mid-late 2000's.

Most notable one was Steve Nash jersey numbered 13/61. I remember when I bought it there was no mention of the serial numbering and I got it for like $30.

Probably an obvious oversight on my part but I just noticed some cards used in game photography (even some of the close ups) and some used cropped player photos. Interesting design choice. I wonder the rationale behind that.

I like how the colored backgrounds pop with the holo on the top, but there are some great in-game action shots on these too!

It's actually to mirror the original 1961-62 Fleer set, where the first 44 cards were more portrait style, and the last 22 cards featured in game action shots. Remember, basketball cards were not popular at all in 1961-62, which is why Fleer not only didn't run it back with another release the following year, but we didn't see mainstream basketball cards again until Topps came back in 1969-70.

I just love what Fleer/Skybox did with their 1998-99 base set, and the Vintage '61/Classic '61 parallels. Almost all of the regular base cards feature really nice action photography, but then the Vintage/Classic parallels for some of them look more like the simple portrait style of the first two thirds of the original 1961-62 set. Looking at the base set next to the Vintage '61 parallels is so much fun. I've got them in 8-pocket pages so that I can see them side by side:

Yes, I totally forgot about this! And I agree, it's super cool that it's a parallel to the actual base set. Looks great.

Here's one I landed recently. The photography in this set is amazing. Jordan and Kerr admiring Rodman in his element:
