More of a thought experiment.
Let's say each card is a 1/1 except the base set for a a release. You can have different parallels as well as variations (like prizm does for base cards). This probably results in more 3x more releases per year. How do you this would affect collecting? Ruin it or make it better? |

Explain the correlation between each card being a 1/1 and it "probably results in more 3x more releases per year" ???

OP, when I saw the thread title, I thought you were going to show off your 1/1 collection

Trying to answer seriously - it would greatly reduce the amount of parallel cards. Just take prizm as one example
You'd have base cards galore, and then only let's say 35 parallel versions (all of them being 1/1's) The chase for them would be insane in my opinion. I suppose the hobby is too big for this type of scenario. |

False scarcity > perceived scarcity.

You can slap a different color on anything and charge anything you want. They have rolls of different colors to choose from at shows.

Inevitably a small portion of people would obtain all the 1/1 cards. Everybody else would be buggered.

As already pointed out, companies like Leaf do this and I find it annoying. I'd much rather have:
/1 /5 /10 /25 Than having 41 different parallels that are all 1/1.

This does remind of this one-off release panini had about a decade ago, signatures (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/...sketball-cards).
The base set had 10 variations of each player with fairly low numbering (/25 - /1) |
