Hi,
I’m not all that familiar with these. Wether collectors are after these or if they are not as sought after. I have seen a few on eBay, with high asking prices. I’m not even sure of what a reasonable price would be that they would sell at. (Btw the scratches are on the cases) If anyone can provide some information please POST or PM, thanks! I’ve attached pics of these. 1992 Upper Deck Bench/Morgan Heroes #AU5 Johnny Bench/Joe Morgan AU/2500 1991 Upper Deck Heroes of Baseball #AU2 Gaylord Perry AU/3000 1991 Upper Deck Heroes of Baseball #AU3 Fergie Jenkins AU/3000 5E88AAFC-6CBE-4D18-A309-7890E52B85A3 by Matt Zawadzki, on Flickr E5E40EF9-09F8-48C7-8AA0-D03A20FE660B by Matt Zawadzki, on Flickr 4FCB2B2B-B465-49DB-8071-ED5E07B39C36 by Matt Zawadzki, on Flickr

I'll take that Bench/Morgan off your hands if you want.
The Bench/Morgan is pretty collectible. I think the Jenkins and Perry are less so, but still cool cards. |

Vernon Wells’ father painted all of the header cards for Upper Deck.

I showed the Bench/Morgan card to one of two black kids that went to my elementary school when i was in 2nd or 3rd grade and recall he was offended by the image, will never forget what he said afterwards!

He did indeed. Years ago a blowout competitor acquired the original works of art from Upper Deck that Vernon painted and I was fortunate to acquire two of my favorites - Barry Sanders and Steve Yzerman checklist paintings and had them reframed with custom matting. Occasionally you'll see these up on the auctions sites but much more expensive now unfortunately. ![]()

The Bench/Morgan is one of the autographed versions from 1992 Upper Deck Hi Series. Heroes of xBall was a neat little insert set UD had for several years in all 4 sports. They were 9 cards per series, plus an unsigned, unnumbered header card. The sets were continuously numbered, so you had continuity set by set. They had the subject sign 2500 copies of the header and inserted them into packs. The 1990 Reggie Jackson set was actually the first pack-issued autograph card, and the Heroes sets some of the first modern inserts.
The other two are from specially marked packs of 1991 UD High Series, if I recall. There were three of them, including Harmon Killebrew, pretty rare given the overall print runs. But none were really big hobby names so they aren’t too valuable. I’d estimate the Bench/Morgan would be somewhere in the $250-400 range, depending on condition, competition, phase of the moon, etc. the other two probably not more than $40 each. |

I have like 30 copies of the Barry Sanders card - one of my favorite cards of all time. If you ever consider trading/selling the painting let me know.
